1 St Mary s Church Hall Refurbishment Why are we doing this? To provide a welcoming, attractive and versatile facility for the parish of St Mary's The existing hall kitchen and toilets are in urgent need of upgrading to bring them up to modern expectations and meet regulations in terms of hygiene & use. To continue to receive valuable revenue from letting the hall the building needs a full refurbishment including the acquisition of new stackable chairs and tables. The hall décor is tired, worn and in need of repair and modernising. Many of the windows are beyond repair and need complete replacement. The parish is in urgent need of a comfortable, social presentation and meeting room to support wide-ranging activities and provide flexibility for events. Parish Support You may be aware the Fundraising Team has been active for some time raising funds for the anticipated Parish Hall refurbishment. These ambitious plans can only be achieved with the continued support and involvement of parishioners in fundraising. What we want to achieve The main Hall redecorated & transformed into a far more open & attractive space. Provision of a new Amenity Meeting Room facility. The modernised hall able to support simultaneous uses by different groups. The catering and toilet facilities to be fully upgraded. Timescale and Cost The above alterations are currently estimated to be in the region of 100,000 and planned to take place over the next two years. Phase 1: By end of 2014 The refurbishment of the Library Room and Kitchen, plus miscellaneous preparatory repairs including replacement of Windows. Phase 2: By end of 2015 Completion of the new Meeting Room, new Hall Entrance, remodelled toilet block and the full refurbishment and decoration of the Main Hall. 2 Proposed Main Church Hall Development Expose ceiling void to expose original joists, improved lighting, new insulation and better general ambience Preservation of open full length space (maintaining current floor area which offers greatest flexibility for all users) Assigned securable Storage areas for use by regular Hall groups Replace existing furniture with robust, stackable lightweight chairs and tables New storage areas for stacked furniture and equipment Part replacement of windows with enhanced double-glazing units, sympathetic to the Hall s architecture Extensive redecoration to improve the overall appearance Provision of a chilled water fountain Expanded cloakroom storage Greatly improved potential for external hire and income generation Larger scale drawings and illustrations of those reproduced in this Leaflet are on long-term display in the link corridor between the Hall and the Church ALL plans & proposals are subject to ongoing feedback & revision.
3 Proposed Main Church Hall Development continued Before and After drawings showing the exposure of the original ceiling joists, and increased internal height of the Main Hall and new Amenity Meeting Room. Some potential shown for exposure of some of the original stonework Changes to the Library Room Roof and wall repairs, new insulation to Library room ceiling, plastering etc. Wall redecoration and installation of new flooring Installation of Phone and Power points to support Library Room transferred to St Mary s Playgroup (who in turn vacate the room currently occupied which will be converted into the new Parish Meeting Amenity Room)
4 New Parish Meeting Amenity Room Meeting capacity for small-medium sized groups (approx. 30 people) for meetings, prayer groups and other Parish activities Equipped with suitable multimedia suite and projection equipment New Mezzanine area (over Hall main entrance) and staircase in Meeting Room Room is independent of the Main Hall Fully remodelled and redecorated area, (ceiling raised and improved lighting). Brand new flexible desks, chairs & tables to support all meeting room activities The new meeting room increases potential for income generation through external room hire
5 Kitchen Area Improved workflow layout, hard-wearing storage units and larger work surfaces Replacement of all basic utilities (oven, sinks, catering hot water boiler etc). New Flooring, lighting, ventilation and general redecoration Improved storage in remodelled Kitchen New double glazed windows Room Heating Separate Wash & Rinse Sinks, & Hand Washing Basin The above address all Environmental Health & Hygiene standards required in public use kitchens Schematics give an indication of Kitchen layout.
