1 Block Housing Important Information This binder contains an anticipated listing of available blocks and floor plan for all of the anticipated room blocks. These blocks are subject to change at any time. Once Block Housing selection begins on Wednesday, February 28, the availability of the listed blocks will change drastically, as each group selects. Groups whose Block Leader decides not to select a block of apartments can apply for General Room Selection after the group declines a Block Housing assignment, and before 12 p.m. (noon) Friday, March 2, About the information contained in this binder: Rules: Blocks of rooms that share apartments are grouped together. Due to the fact many apartments are part of multiple blocks, once one of the block options in a particular grouping is taken, that usually means that the remaining block options are no longer available. Pick-up spaces can be added to any listed block to increase the block size. Pick-up spaces are half-filled apartments, and are gender specific. Groups with odd numbers of residents might find these spaces helpful. Pick-up spaces are often in the apartments of RAs or CAs. Residents assigned to these spaces will be required to sign a limitations form acknowledging that spaces in RA/CA apartments are not retainable. Additional rooms/apartments may be added or removed once consolidations occur. Note: Neville Apartments and Roselawn 15 is no longer an option for Block Housing for the 18/19 academic year. All spaces within an apartment must be completely filled by the block group. For example, a group of 6 would not be permitted to select a block of rooms that consisted of 2 doubles and 1 triple apartment, since this would create a vacancy in one of the apartments. For Morewood Gardens, groups will be required to fill a suite (two adjoining rooms that share a bathroom) before being permitted to start a new suite. Only double and triple rooms are available to Morewood Gardens blocks prime single rooms will not be an option. Blocks of rooms will not be split up because of requests for specific apartment types. For example, a group of 6 cannot request that 2 separate blocks of 6 be broken up simply so that all residents can have one-bedroom apartments. Page 1 of 15

7 Margaret Morrison Apartments Note: The following applies to this Margaret Morrison block: 1. Block CAN be co-ed, but single gender within the individual rooms (gender neutral form required for all residents) 2. These block are NOT retainable during Room Selection 2019 and no special accommodations will be made; residents will need to go through Room Selection to select a new space 133A (double), 133B (double), 133C (double) 133D (double) 8 occupants Page 7 of 15

8 Morewood Gardens Due to the large number of available rooms in Morewood Gardens, Housing Services is not pre-designating specific blocks of rooms. Housing Services will work with each group individually during their timeslot to work out Morewood Gardens blocks. Groups interested in Morewood Gardens for their block should use the floor plans provided on the Block Housing website to view the available apartments. Block Housing groups can select from available prime double or prime triple rooms ONLY. The 3rd Floor and some of the 4 th Floor of Morewood Gardens will not be available as block housing. When selecting your rooms, please take into account rooms that share an adjoining bathroom. Blocks will be expected to fill the first suite (two rooms that share a bathroom) before being permitted to assign residents to a second suite. Groups cannot break up more than one suite. Also, please note the following changes from the current Morewood floor plans: 1. Morewood rooms ending in 11 and 13 which currently have their own bathrooms will SHARE a bathroom beginning in the Fall Morewood rooms ending in 25 which is currently a double room split in half by a wall will become one open room; the wall will be removed over the summer.
