(MDI) has seen an incredible amunt f investment and activity taking shape in the Midtwn cre. As part f this renaissance, MDI s rle has been critical in aligning many f these effrts. Belw is a synpsis f the varius ways MDI has assisted the nging effrts. (Nte: This dcument nly cvers the wrk MDI has dne in the Nrth Cass and Nrth Suth neighbrhds f Midtwn. MDI is als actively wrking in the fllwing neighbrhds: New Center, TechTwn, Wayne State University, Art Center, Medical Center and Brush Park.) Infrastructure Raised $4.5M fr Cass upgrades (underway) which includes new decrative LED street and pedestrian lighting, bike lanes and sidewalk replacement. Develped a Dg Park in cnjunctin with Shinla. Cnstructed five Green Alleys t create safer, better lit pedestrian ways. Cnverted Secnd and Third Avenues t tw-way with bike lanes; wrking with the City t add a crsswalk at Secnd & Canfield. Renvated Redmnd Park. Built a Cmmunity Garden n Secnd Avenue with lcal residents. Added unmetered parking alng nrth side f Hancck frm Wdward t Third. Beautificatin & Maintenance Prvide Operatin Clean services twice a week t pick up trash and debris. Landscaped and maintain ver 20 medians and flwerbeds alng Warren, Mack, and Anthny Wayne Drive. Prvide graffiti remval and pwer washing services thrughut the neighbrhd. Replaced the Canfield histric sign fr the W. Canfield Assciatin. Prgrams Facilitated ver 1,500 new residents mving t Midtwn thrugh the Live Midtwn and Live Dwntwn prgrams. Wrking with cmmunity stakehlders and the City f Detrit t develp a residential parking permit prgram (underway). Invested $100,000 in strefrnt renvatins fr a cncierge prgram called the Max. Real Estate & Develpment Dnated tw lts t the El Mre fr cnstructin f a greenhuse. Prvided a $500,000 backstp t Cass Crridr Neighbrhd Develpment Crpratin (CCNDC) fr the 47-unit Cass Plaza affrdable husing prject (underway).

2 Facilitated $400,000 in grant funding fr CCNDC fr ffice enhancements, strefrnt renvatin and exterir upgrades (underway). Sld frmer Chungs restaurant t a lcal restauranteur. Sld frmer Agave t HpCat, resulting in ver $4M in investment. Facilitated senir debt financing fr Icnic Building (Cass/Peterbr) redevelpment which includes a tatt parlr, a craft beer stre, specialty bike stre, and a sn t pen restaurant. Mved the MDI ffice t supprt Wdward Garden Blck Develpment and recruited Great Lakes Cffee. Purchased and raised $3M in equity fr the Strathmre Apartments mixed-incme develpment (52 units f the 129 are affrdable). Built a new 30,000 SF ffice building at Wdward/Willis that huses Lawrence Technlgical University s Design studi and ther nn-prfit users. Facilitated a $325,000 grant fr build ut f cmmercial strefrnts in the Auburn. Raised $300,000 in emergency grant funds fr a new rf and t stabilize the building at the Frest Arms immediately after the fire. Facilitated redevelpment f the histric Sherbrke Apartments (lcated at the suthwest crner f Hancck/Secnd) and invested $350,000. Raised senir debt and state CRP funding fr the renvatin f the histric 678 Selden prperty. Facilitated tw public neighbrhd meetings t review the prpsed rezning in Midtwn (tentatively scheduled t be reviewed by City Cuncil in March). Purchased the frmer Tmby s Market fr retail develpment and gallery. Business Supprt & Develpment Spnsr a Grcery Transprtatin Prgram with lcally wned EZ GO Transprtatin fr residents t access lcal grcery stres and pharmacies. Leasing ff street parking fr the Cass/Canfield retail & restaurants during rail cnstructin.
