BANK OF CHINA LIMITED (A joint stock company incorporated in the People s Republic of China with limited liability) Stock Code: 3988 GLOBAL OFFERING Joint Global Coordinators, Joint Bookrunners, Joint Sponsors and Joint Lead Managers Arrangements for Publication of Allocation Results for the Hong Kong Public Offering In relation to the Hong Kong Public Offering, the Company announces that the Hong Kong identity card numbers, passport numbers or Hong Kong business registration numbers of successful applicants (where supplied) and the number of Hong Kong Offer Shares successfully applied for under white and yellow Application Forms and by giving electronic application instructions to HKSCC via CCASS, will be made available by the following means: the Company s Hong Kong Public Offering allocation results enquiry line at between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight from Tuesday, May 30, 2006 to Friday, June 2, 2006; Page 1

2 the Company s Public Offer website at on a 24-hour basis from 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 to 12:00 midnight on Friday, June 9, 2006; the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited s website at special allocation results booklets at all 70 receiving bank branches and sub-branches listed in this announcement and the Hong Kong Underwriters at the addresses set out in the Prospectus during opening hours of individual branches and sub-branches from Tuesday, May 30, 2006 to Tuesday, June 6, 2006; and special allocation results booklets at all branches of Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited located in Hong Kong during opening hours of individual branches from Tuesday, May 30, 2006 to Tuesday, June 6, Applicants who wish to obtain their results of allocations are encouraged to make use of the Company s Public Offering allocation results enquiry line or to use the Company s Public Offer website. The publication arrangements regarding identification numbers of and number of shares allocated to successful applicants as described above will replace those described in the sections headed Expected Timetable and How to Apply for Hong Kong Offer Shares Publication of Results in the Prospectus and the formal notices issued by the Company dated Thursday, May 18, 2006 and Tuesday, May 23, The identification numbers of and number of shares allocated to successful applicants will not be published in the South China Morning Post (in English) and the Hong Kong Economic Times (in Chinese). A further announcement providing details of the Offer Price, the level of applications and indications of interest in the Hong Kong Public Offering and International Offering, the basis of allocations of the Hong Kong Offer Shares and the final number of Hong Kong Offer Shares comprised in the Hong Kong Public Offering, pool A and pool B, respectively is expected to be published on Tuesday, May 30, Reference is made to the Hong Kong Public Offering of initially 1,278,430,000 H Shares in the Company and the Prospectus. 3 The Company announces that the application lists were closed at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 23, Due to the large number of applications received by the Company, the processing of applications takes much longer than expected and the Company will not be able to meet the deadline for publishing full allocation results in the newspapers on Tuesday, May 30, Accordingly, the Company announces that the Hong Kong identity card numbers, passport numbers or Hong Kong business registration numbers of successful applicants (where supplied) and the number of Hong Kong Offer Shares successfully applied for under white and yellow Application Forms and by giving electronic application instructions to HKSCC via CCASS, will not be published in the newspapers but will instead be made available at the times and dates and in the manner specified as follows: results of allocations will be available from the Company s Hong Kong Public Offering allocation results enquiry line.
