2 Kroeteneiland Waterviolier MA Breda 16 Semi detached houses in Breda The houses are designed using the 'split-level' principle which means that they have extra high ceilings in the living room (3,8m) Also worth mentioning is the large window on the garden side which is made using a wooden curtain facade profile The houses are part of the Kroeteneiland project, a project designed by 3 winners of an architecture contest m² Architect Artist BBVH Raimond de Hullu HeJa joris_van_hoytema From A16 take exit Breda Prinsenbeek, follow Haagsche Beemden and turn left when you see the modern architecture 2

3 Chasse Park Apartments Nonnenveld HN Breda Situated on a former military base, next to the city centre, the Chasse Park Apartments is a series of towers that accentuate views and open space through their orientation on the site and unique elevations The towers seem to be placed at random on the site Because of the high density towers, the originally green and open area can remain relatively open The in-between space gets an important glue-like character: all different architecture is connected through the outside public area Not one apartment has its own garden, but in this plan, each has a veranda, and guaranteed sunlight, because of the centrally placed inner core with services The public park functions as a collective garden Underneath the whole project is ample parking This campus set-up has proven to be a successful concept, created by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), the landscape was done by West Main designer, Architect Xaveer De Geyter Architects West 8 City of Breda Busses 10, 6 and 132 pass the Chassé campus The terrain is south of the city centre, about 15 min walking from the Central Train Station 3

4 Carré Nonnenveld HN Breda This courtyard housing block clad in wood veneer is placed on the Chassé campus, a former military base at the south of the city centre The compact block sits on a pedestal containing parking garage and circulation is arranged by three staircases and elevator tracts which can be reached through the courtyard The 10 storey high building contains over 144 rental and owner-occupied houses of different types All the apartments have balconies, which have custom made sun shading elements made off expanded aluminum sheet, framed in aluminum profiles West 8 designed the courtyard and Inside Outside developed the landscape OMA was also the mastermind behind the urban plan of this successful campus concept m² Main designer, Architect OMA - Rem Koolhaas Inside Outside West 8 Chassé CV Proper Stok Woningen Busses 10, 6 and 132 pass the Chassé campus The terrain is south of the city centre, about 15 min walking from the Central Train Station 4

5 Fire Station Tramsingel AC Breda Neutelings-Riedijk explaines: The fire station has been designed as a walled ensemble of differently shaped volumes, a little city for the fire fighters The oval-shape footprint is divided into four functional zones: training centre, workshops and garages and a sports hall The surrounding wall binds the outdoor spaces such as the exercise court and the sports field into the complex On the upper levels the offices and bedrooms span as bridges over the garage, bordered with green roof gardens The triangular volume contains the restaurant and the entrance courtyard with a welcoming rainwater fountain m² Architect Neutelings Riedijk City of Breda 5
