In the fast-paced atmosphere of the non-profit world, few things stay the same for long. In the past year alone, we introduced new opportunities for the volunteers and children we serve, introduced new staff and board members to the Agency and developed plans to expand the use of our new facility. In the midst of so much change, however, one thing remained constant: the remarkable power of mentoring to change lives brought an outstanding year of new challenges and opportunities to the Agency. Throughout our 13-county service area, we matched and supported 1,857 matches a remarkable feat, but falling short of our goal to create and support 2,035 matches. While our ambitions bring forth a new set of challenges, we are working harder than ever to ensure that those challenges are met with strategic planning, solidarity and vigor saw the development of our future leadership team, a realignment which allows our team leads to work more closely within their departments to ensure that all processes and communications run efficiently. Volunteer recruitment efforts were revitalized with the addition of new Community Development Coordinators and the implementation of the Shoe Can Make a Difference recruitment campaign which brought in over 300 prospective volunteers in 90 days. With the renewed recruitment efforts came an increase in matches for counties lying just outside of Allen. The Foellinger and other ever-present partners have given Big Brothers Big Sisters the resources to dream BIG, take chances and refine the qualities that make an organization both great and sustainable. At present, we are working hard to make our achievements sustainable in the long-run and continue to improve the quality and focus of our programs. Our mentoring relationships now extend beyond adolescence to lend guidance and resources to our Littles as they plan their next step on the path to success whether it be college, career or military. Our staff continues to develop with ever-evolving management strategies and a renewed focus on seven core values: safety, integrity, passion, customer service, ownership, excellence and communication. We remain steadfast in our promise to use each donation monetary, temporal or otherwise as efficiently as possible to maximize its benefits for the children we serve. For the future, we seek to be the best, most cost-effective agency in the country. We strive to advance our reputation as a leader in developing innovative and effective mentoring programs. We plan to meet the growing needs of children in our area. Our past achievements, present goals and future opportunities are forever attributed to the unwavering support we receive from our volunteers and donors. We hope that you, too, can take pride in the past achievements and future plans made possible by your support of this mission. When I first became involved with the Agency seven years ago, I was struck by the fact that this organization makes a measurable difference in the lives of children it serves these children are statistically more likely to avoid delinquent behaviors, graduate high school, receive a four-year college degree and have improved interactions with their families. As a volunteer, donor and supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana, you should take pride in being an integral part of an organization that makes such a BIG difference in the lives of children in our communities! In 2015, we continued to set the standard for excellence as we created and served more matches than Indianapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati and Detroit for a fraction of the cost! We provided services and support to 1,857 Site-Based and Community- Based, one-to-one matches. That means more than 1,800 of our Big Couple Kirk and Kim, Little Brother Doug and Little Sister Nicole Matched since 2011 Big Couple Kirk and Kim have been matched with Little Brother Doug for over five years now. Additionally, they have been matched with Doug s biological sister, Nicole, for nearly three years. The dynamic of this Big Family has worked out perfectly they have truly become a closeknit group that has learned to laugh, learn and grow together! Big Sister Rhonda and Little Sister Vanessa Matched since 2012 Big Sister Rhonda has been matched with Little Sister Vanessa for nearly four years. These two really enjoy baking and cooking together, and they share a mutual love for the arts. What I like best about my Big Sister is that she gives me advice and helps me be a better me, said Little Sister Vanessa. community s most caring and altruistic individuals stepped up to provide at-risk children with the opportunities and guidance to change their lives for the better, forever. We thank YOU for being a part of this extraordinary group of individuals and for donating your time and talents to a child in need. Your Board of Directors is grateful for your service and is committed to making the most of your efforts by providing the best and most costeffective mentoring programs in the nation. With YOUR help, we have brought the Agency to the top-tier of the non-profit world. In 2016, we plan to continue building our reputation as a leader in mentoring, further develop innovative programs for children and secure long-term stability for our operations. Above all, we are planning for growth to address our still too long list of children waiting to be matched with their very own mentors. We are determined to create the best structure for YOU and the thousands of children you serve by donating your time and talents.
