Murray, he Architecture of the Italian Renaissance, London he course is designed to familiarise students with the basic creative processes and formal transformations in European Renaissance and Baroque Architecture; presents main currents in European architecture with priority given to Italian architecture, show Austria-Czech and South Germany significance to Central European architecture. Second part of the course provides students with the essential knowledge about the formal and functional changes in Polish art (16 th 18 th century) and its connections with European Art centres as well as with its influence on Middle Europe countries; the course covers 16 th century Renaissance in Little Poland, Italian artists activity in Poland; Baroque architecture in 17 th century; Schools and regions in Polish architecture of 18 th century. Architekture von Łódź - zwischen Berlin und Wien/ Architecture of Łódź - between Berlin and Vienna L lecture Undergraduate (bachelor s) / graduate (master s) / doctoral degree 2018/2019 winter semester German At the turn of the century Łódź was a rapidly developing industrial centre, and the largest city in Poland after Warsaw. Łódź at that times became also an interesting center where the various influences of two major European artistic centers - Berlin and Vienna - overlapped. his resulted in the emergence of an original and diversified architectural landscape. his was reflected in the cosmopolitan character of the city, where different national and cultural traditions coexisted, and where people from various parts of Central Europe had come to seek success and fortune. prof. dr hab. A critical survey outlining the major avant-gardes after 1900: fauvism, cubism, metaphysical painting, futurism, Dadaism, surrealism, neoplasticism, purism, the Soviet avant-garde, socialist realism. Overview of major trends in modern art before World War II with particular reference to the Avant-Garde. racking the Avant-Garde. African Influences in Modern Art (especially how African Art influenced Pablo Picasso and his work). Movements in wentieth-century Art before World War II: Surrealism, Neue Sachlichkeit. We also explore the relation of these tendencies to postmodernism, feminism, and ideas of postcoloniality. Emphasis on reading and discussion of historical interpretations and development of bibliography. 6 03.6 History of Art 03.9 Others Art and Design Central and Eastern European Painting of the 19 th Century L Undergraduate (bachelor s) ECS summer semester he lecture is devoted to the presentation of selected artistic phenomena in Central and Eastern European art of the 19th century discussed in the context of the transitions of the artistic tendencies. he work of individual painters and entire artistic groups from different countries will be discussed in the light of their relationship with such artistic centers as Viena, Munich or Saint Petersburg. he scope of the analyzed issues are the cultural and artistic situation of countries such as Germany, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and others. he issues include both direct import of artistic tendencies as well as the development of local traditions through the search for "national styles".
