2 Village of Pinckney Police Department 220 S. Howell St. Pinckney, MI (734) Office (734) Fax (517) Central Dispatch Jeffrey M. Newton, Chief of Police Monthly Report to Village Council August 2018 On August 15 th, Sgt Trenkle participated in Putnam Twp s Safety Camp. Sgt Trenkle organized and directed the kids in Bike Rodeo, teaching them the rules of the road and safe bicycle handling. He was very well received. We conducted an online auction this last month and sold some items that we ve had in the property room for a while. A nominal amount of money was raised. The primary sale was the 2003 Lexus that was seized under drug forfeiture, several months ago. That car sold on auction for $1, During the month of August, WHMI was sponsoring Operation Hero. The focus was to award first responders for good works performed in Livingston County. Amy Salowitz suggested I nominate someone, so I chose Officer Christina Doolan for her service to Teddy Kenny, a senior citizen who used to live on E Hamburg St. After some needed wordsmithing from the Clerk, I submitted the application and was happy to hear last week that Officer Doolan was selected to be one of the four winners. WHMI will be broadcasting the awards weekly. If you don t recall, Chris went well above and beyond in helping Teddy Kenny to get much needed State service. She now lives in assisted living in Lansing, MI. Listed below is a breakdown of the activity conducted by the members of the Pinckney Police Department during the month of August I. 20 Treasurer s Report August 2018 Continue to collect taxes for Attended the MML Tax Policy and Legislation Meeting. After July BOR, I received an from Equalization that we didn t balance to the assessor s numbers. I had only had one change affidavit in the amount of $6 from the board of review, so I was surprised when they told me we were off by over $16,000. I spent a lot of time trying to track down where the difference was. It turns out that the assessor had made an adjustment in July and hadn t sent me the paperwork. This adjustment was dated in April and should have been done before I received the original roll in June. I made the adjustment after receiving the back-up documentation from the township s Deputy Treasurer. We now balance again.
