The course covers topics such as underlying Sales Comparison Approach definitions and concepts, the analysis of a comparable sale, paired sales techniques, derivation and sequence of adjustments, analysis of properties with multiple land types, reconciliation, and case studies. These topics are discussed with a distinct bent toward the sometimes unique aspects of rural property valuation. Concepts are reinforced through classroom discussion, drill problems and periodic diagnostic quizzes. Class Hours: Days 1 3; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; Day 4; 8:00 am to 3 pm. 2 FARM MANAGEMENT / AGRICULTURAL CONSULTING EDUCATION EXCEL FOR MANAGERS January 12, 2016 Instructor: Ann Roehm / Paige Gilligan This course begins with the essential vocabulary of spreadsheets and databases and moves the student into designing, formatting and creating a formatted, consolidated workbook with formulas, functions, and range references. The workbook will be used for budgets and cash flows on a simple case study. The purpose of the workbook will be to learn the features of Excel that simplify data analysis. The case study data will be used for sensitivity analysis, scenarios, goal seek and break-even analysis using data tables. An expansion on the case will allow several years data to be studied for trends using outlining tools, pivot-tables, and pivot charts. The skills learned in this class will help attendees to better relate with individuals in the work environment and to improve relations that will result in a more positive and productive workplace. (Part of the FARMit course education). Registration: $ ASFMRA Members / $ Non-Members THEORIES OF EFFICIENCY IN AGRICULTURE January 14, 2016 Instructor: Monika Palma The objective of this course is to use the theory of Total Quality Management, Kaizan and other approaches to teach methods of how to build efficiencies in a farm management scenario. The course will give students an understanding of basic Theories of Efficiency in Agriculture and provide an arsenal of quality control tools for use in the workplace. Students will learn an understanding of the various data reporting tools available and where to apply them in order to effectively manage an agricultural operation with improved activity efficiencies, increased profits and a better Return on Investment (ROI). 4 ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS Brent Stanger, ARA Idaho Brent Stanger, ARA, is a partner in LeMoyne Appraisal, LLC based in Twin Falls, Idaho. He is a Certified General Appraiser in the States of Idaho and Nevada and has been actively involved in the appraisal profession since He is also a licensed Real Estate Agent in the State of Idaho. Brent s appraisal experience includes a wide array of property types in Idaho and Nevada. He has a great deal of experience in appraising large commercial irrigated farm properties, livestock ranch operations and recreational ranch properties. His appraisal practice has also included considerable appraisal work with eminent domain and condemnation proceedings, commercial properties and some agriculturally based specialized facilities. Brent joined the ASFMRA in He received the Accredited Rural Appraiser, ARA, designation in He served two years on National Accreditation Committee and six years on the Appraisal Education and Accrediting Committee with two of those years as the Committee Chairman. He has served as an instructor for many of the ASFMRA appraisal courses and has participated in the development and review of much of the latest Appraisal curriculum. Brent has resided Twin Falls, Idaho with his wife and two children since Ann Roehm Kansas Ann W. Roehm earned her B.S. degree in Chemistry and Mathematics at St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kansas in In 1988, she completed her M.Ed. at University of Missouri in Kansas City in Computer Programming and Curriculum and Instruction. She taught for 20 years at the high school and college levels including math, programming, and mathematical methods for business management. She is certified by Microsoft as an Office Users Specialist. Ann has five years experience in appraising. She has completed the General Appraisal Certification education program through the Appraisal Institute. Her appraisal experience includes specialized software applications and industrial properties. She is a Licensed Provisional Real Property Appraiser in the state of Kansas. Ann is a Staff Appraiser for Cannon, Lechtenberg & Associates, Inc. Paige Gilligan, CAC Paige Gilligan was born and raised in a rural setting in the Midwest, but now resides in the Central Valley of. Since 2009, Paige and her family have called Fresno home. She is currently employed as a senior vice president for Rabobank, N.A. and is the Director of Collateral Valuation and Field Services. In Paige s current position, she is charged with the oversight of collateral risk for the bank. This includes all residential, commercial, and agricultural appraisal and environmental due diligence along with the oversight of personal property collateral verifications and crop inspection needs for agricultural and commercial clients. Maintaining independence throughout the due diligence process is a main focal point for Paige in her daily activities. Prior to joining Rabobank, Paige managed her own agricultural consulting firm in Arizona for many years. The company s main areas of service were collateral verification, project management, and advertising/marketing. Paige earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics/Agricultural Business Management from Purdue University in 1993 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in She is currently an active member in the American Society of Agricultural Consultants (ASAC), American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA), Women for Agriculture (CWA), Society of Chief Appraisers (SCA), and the Risk Management Association (RMA).

5 Dan Whisenhunt, AAC, MBA, CPT Raised in Northern, Dan s exposure to agriculture was limited to his parents small farm and his friend s almond orchard until his immersion into agriculture in 1997, when he entered the almond industry. Currently, Dan is the Principal at Dan Whisenhunt Consulting in Turlock,. Previously, he was responsible for grower relations, as well as over 200 million dollars in international sales annually and the administration of all logistics for domestic and international shipments. Prior to being recruited to that position, Dan was President- International Division for a global agricultural marketer/exporter. There he was responsible for more than 100 million dollars in annual international sales. He was also responsible for the division s logistics operations. In 1998 he was recruited as Director of Sales and Marketing at an almond packer and exporter, where he was responsible for all domestic and international sales, credit, collections, marketing and positioning of the Company to both growers in and buyers of almonds around the world. He was directly responsible for a four-fold growth of the company during his tenure. Dan s background also includes the fields of human resources and financial services, business development and training. Dan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, with concentrations in Marketing and Business Education from State University, Sacramento and a recent MBA from State University, Stanislaus. Dan has been a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers for fourteen years. He attained the AAC designation (Accredited Agricultural Consultant) in He is the Chair of the FARMit Committee, on the state level and is a member of the Management/Consulting Education Committee on the national level, as well as being a board member for the Chapter. Dan, after years of study in the subject, has obtained the designation of CPT (Certified Personality Trainer). This allows Dan to coach individuals as well as teams in the study of The Personalities. Balancing work and family, he also finds time to be active in other local organizations. Dan has been married to his wife, Denise since 1989 and has two children. Monika Palma, MBA Monika Palma has more than 15 years of progressive management experience in finance and accounting related fields. She is currently working for Foster Farms finance team and in the evenings teaches a Seminar in International Business at the Business College of State University, Stanislaus. Prior to Foster Farms, Monika worked for Dollar Financial Corporation as a Sr. Operations Manager. Monika holds a B.A. degree in General Business and a MBA from State University, Stanislaus awarded in She is involved in a local community, likes to volunteer, and enjoys traveling.
