Advantages of EduMapping GI-education becomes comparable between vocational and academic level 1 day course and 4 yr program within and between different countries between 1 st jobs and education labels gives overview, supplements textual description GI-education more consistent Assessment of same course by different persons will bring out differences in understanding Identity of course and curriculum can be formulated more clearly GI as a knowledge domain becomes more coherent 1 common base for sub domains (Surveying, RS, GIS, Cartography,...) better visibility, attractiveness for students By using GI Body of Knowledge v there is an external reference as a basis for accreditation & certification feedback becomes possible to be used in the next version: BoK2

Actions around EduMapping Objective: Obtain labels for all GI-education in Europe to support - better diploma recognition, - co-operation between GI-educators, - GI-job description and GI-job application. re: jobs: EduMapping branch: JobMapping (together with Marinus de Bakker, GI-job assessment with GI-BoK is the basis for matching with GI-courseware. JobMatching

Label: a table to add to the text Wageningen example: Introduction Geo-information Science, 2010, 6 ECTS Contents: Via the geo-information cycle main concepts, main technology and impact on society of Geo-Information Science are introduced. This cycle consists of describing, analysing and realising of real world features and processes via spatial data and information. Main concepts are based on the notion of models (conceptual, formal and technical), geographical attributes (thematical, geometrical, temporal), geo-reference, geo-data structure, methods and techniques (for example algorithms) to realize the geo-information cycle (capture, storage, query, process, transform and visualize). Besides, examples are given to apply the geo-information cycle into research projects of different spatially oriented environmental sciences. 4 groups in label: GI in BoK GI not in BoK GI generic Non-GI Learning outcomes: After this course students are expected to be able to: - recognise the basic terms of Geo-information Science; - understand and illustrate the geo-information cycle and the main concepts in Geo-information Science; - demonstrate and apply elementary GIS and Remote Sensing software skills. Activities: - study text books after introductory lectures; - practise concepts by case studies and assignments; - practise these concepts by use of geo-information systems and remote sensing software.

10 7. Jobmapping: create additional label Technical adviser for the Environmental GIS Programme to assist Project Manager in line with planned activities. Duties and Responsibilities Objective of the assignment: Work under this assignment will seek to strengthen the decision-support systems in order to create preconditions for sustainable management of national and transboundary natural areas (i.e. between Montenegro and Croatia) and build the data management capabilities of the relevant institutions and enterprises. Under direct supervision of UNDP Project manager, the incumbent will design and implement GIS training work programme for selected stakeholders in project area in order to build and improve their capacity for effective management and decision-making in the field of environmental protection and sustainable tourism development. Selected candidate will be responsible for: Identifying stakeholders which will be targeted by capacity building process; Building consensus on the scope of intervention within identified stakeholders; Preparing and implementing capacity building activities; Supporting preparation of simple user-driven user interfaces and decisionsupport tools for selected agencies; Further interventions in selected area proposed; Supporting identification of data requirements to support biodiversity conservation planning; Validation of data (GIS, spreadsheets, images, reports, tables) sources from providers; Collated data formatting to ensure integration into the biodiversity sector 'geodatabase' of the (future) NSDI; Data gaps identified and missing data collected; Simple user-driven user interfaces and decision-support tools for selected stakeholders launched; Data access and data maintenance protocols established; Planed activities will focus on preparing and delivering programme made in line with available capacities and needs of selected beneficiaries, analyzing existing technical capacities and support designing appropriate decision GI focus Proportion of job GI in BoK 40% AM 5% CF 0% CV 10% GC 10% DN 15% GI not in BoK 20% 20% Non GI 40%
