4 #A pretty wedding took place at St Davis Presbyterian Church Upper Hutt on Wednesday 20 th August the contacting parties being Ralph Scholes eldest son of Alfred Scholes of Mangaroa and Elwy Myrtle fifth daughter of the later Mr Cleaver of Trentham. The nuptial knot was securely tied by the Rev F J Usher. The church was decorated for the occasion and a floral bell was suspended over the spot where the ceremony took place. The bride who was given away by her brother Horace wore a dress of cream de Chien trimmed with crème oriental trimming, The bridesmaids were Misses Matilda Scholes and ettie Cleaver sisters of the bride and groom respectively who wore cream radiant dresses trimmed with guipure lace. The bride wore the usual veil and orange blossoms and carried a bouquet. Len Scholes brother of the bridegroom officiated as best man. As the bridal party left the church the wedding march was played by Mrs W W Clifford. A reception was held after the ceremony at the Oddfellows Hall Trentham when the customary toasts were duly honoured. The presents which were numerous and valuable included a handsome silver tea service a gift to the bridegroom from the members of the Wallaceville Presbyterian Church. The happy couple left for a southern seaside resort to spend the honeymoon.
