5 About the Editors For biographical information about John Landis, see page 263. Skip Lowney, graduated with an M.C.P., 1998, from the University of California, Berkeley, with a concentration in Urban Design. He focused on the city of non-growth, and deciphering the institutions needed to sustain that urban form. Skip participated in a design charette to prepare a re-use plan for the East Garrison area of Ft. Ord, California. He is a registered architect, having received his Bachelor of and a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park in His most recent work experience was as consultant to the United States Postal Service, Headquarters, from He provided design, development, and implementation management for the national post office lobby design standardization program; and co-authored several pubhcations on standards. Prior to that, Skip worked for a year as Cad Project Manager at D.B.I. Architects in Washington, DC; as an Associate Planner with John Pickard Associates in Washington, DC, where he assisted in planning and design of new mixed-use developments in the Washington area; and as an Architect at Greenwell Goetz Architects for three and one-half years where he was responsible for all phases of projects. One of his projects for a contract furniture and fabrics showroom was published in Interiors magazine in 1988.
