Guest Speaker Christina Morales Christine Morales is passionate about Rotary and its projects in Columbia. She comes from Rotary District 9281 which has 1200 Rotarians in 68 clubs and she lives in Bogata. There are 476 million inhabitants of Columbia The Rotary Club of Bogata Occidente has 28 members. There is a list of Projects which I will send by photo to Alex. [Not received] Great speech and Christine should be proud of her English. An from Christine to the club, prior to her presentation! Dear president Chris and fellow members: I would like to offer a big thank you for allowing me the opportunity and space to present Colombia and our Rotary programs to your club. I would like to apologise for my english during the presentation, as you could imagine doing so in another language is not easy, but I hope to improve for future opportunities. I wish for our clubs continue cultivating the friendship and that we can work together in future projects that benefit the community, therefore meeting and achieving Rotary's objective. kind regards Cristina Morales Club Rotario Bogota Occidente Colombia - South America Christina was not so confident with present in Engish, so she brought her own translators, her daughter Carolina a chemical engineer who works at Kimberly-Clark, Reg King earlier unofficial guest speaker, IT industry and Daisy Montano also an earlier unofficial guest speaker, a teacher and 11 year previously with Glenhaven Rotary, was originally from Bolivia. Vote of Thanks: Andrew Mizzi thanked Christine who is returning to Columbia on the 21st August. Andrew made the point that Rotary brings us together. Andrew presented a quizzical and maybe confused Christine with a book on the 101 Rugby League Greats. Heads & Tails: Won by Neil Williamson. Weekly Youth Raffle: Won by Terry Davies and Neil Williamson President Chris thanked AG Ivan for attending the meeting. He expressed his thanks to Linda and Andrew Rios, Gayl Mallet, Caroline, Reg King, Daisy Montano and Carolina Trujillo. Shamus lead the members in Advance Australia Fair at 9pm.

President Chris having received a banner from the Rotary Club of Medellin, Columbia, chartered February 1928, 49 years before us. Rotary Club of Medellin was allocated club number 7281 and at the time, there were only approximately 200,000 Rotarians in the world.

Andrew presenting Christina with a book during the Vote of Thanks. Good thing Christina then gives us back the book o donate in her name to a local school for their library. I am sure she has not become enamoured with Rugby League while visiting or she surely would have joined the Footy tipping.

President Chris again presenting Christina with our club banner to taker back and present to her Club of Bogota Occidente.

Reminder: Working with Children Check ROTARIANS APPLY FOR REGISTRATION by completing an online form at Working-With-Children-Check/Volunteers-and-students, as a Volunteer. It must be an individual application and no one else can do it other than the Rotarian himself/herself. No fee is required to be paid by Volunteers. Once Rotarians complete the form, they will receive a distinctive Application (APP) Number, which they must take to their local Motor Registry with proof of their identity. The Motor Registry will then communicate with the Office of the Children s Guardian, which will then issue a CLEARANCE for that individual. The CLEARANCE will consist of a number beginning with WWC (working with children) and ending in V for Volunteer. That Number will remain with the relevant Rotarian for life, although it will be valid for five years, and Application for its renewal must then be made. The editor has now completed both phase 1 & 2 of the application process, and it was a pretty simple straight forward process to complete the application online and also do the Motor Registry or NSW Services office phase. Even the wait at the Motor Registry was only around 5 minutes. Now it is just a wait for however long it takes to be issued the clearance. It can take 3-4 weeks but can occasionally be as quick as overnight. RAWCS Donations in Kind Anyone that can assist at Donations in Kind, Saturday 23rd to load a container for Vanuatu please see Alex, but remember we also start selling the Raffle at Westfield and we have a BBQ weekend at Harvey Norman! Our Club s Logo to meet the new Rotary Branding guidelines
