1 Title: Japan surrendered to the Allies in August (A roller over black follows): In 1946, a Congressional inquiry into the conduct of General Courts-Martial held during the Second World War was instituted. Because of the protests of Ira C. Rothgerber (upon whom the character of Patrick Dannenberg is based) and others, the rules regarding the admissability of evidence in Courts-Martial were changed to prevent another occurrence such as the Leonski trial from happening again. The Leonski trial thus contributed to the passage through Congress of the United States Uniform Code of Military Justice for the protection of the rights of the serviceman.
