Item 1.0 Confirmation of Minutes of Annual General Meeting for Session 2013/ The minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on 7 May 2014 for Session 2013/2014 was confi rmed through a motion proposed by Ir Adam CHOY and seconded by Ir Charles LEUNG. 2.0 Chairman s Annual Report 2.1 The Chairman, Ir David CHAN, delivered the Annual Report on activities of the Division for Session 2014/2015. The report was adopted through a motion proposed by Ir Sidney TONG and seconded by Ir Dr MK WONG. 3.0 Financial Report Ir Dr Michael Chi Ho YAM Honorary Secretary 5 May The Hon Treasurer, Ir Dr Michael YAM, presented the Financial Report for Session 2014/2015 during the meeting. 3 4 4.0 Election of Chairman and Committee Members 4.1 The Honorary Secretary, Ir Danny HO, advised that there were one (1) nomination for Chairman, and four (4) nominations for Ordinary Members for 4 available seats (all being nominated by the Division Committee for Session 2014/2015). 4.2 The Honorary Secretary, Ir Danny HO, confi rmed that as there were equal number of nominations and vacancies for the posts of Chairman and Ordinary Members and with no objection from the Division members at the meeting, the following elections were endorsed :- a. Ir TSUI Wai Tim was elected Chairman for Session 2015/2016 through a motion proposed by Ir Dr YL WONG and seconded by Ir Adam CHOY. b. Ir Andrew KWONG Wing Cheong, Ir Anthony KWONG Hui Lok, Ir Danny HO Hoo Yin and Ir Ken FOK Chun Ming were elected Ordinary Members for a term of 3 years through a motion proposed by Ir Samuel CHOI and seconded by Ir Alex LAI. 5.0 AOB 5.1 Ir Dr Michael YAM, on behalf of the Building Discipline Representative Ir Allan CHAN, presented the report of the Building Discipline Advisory Panel to members. 5.2 Ir Danny HO proposed a vote of thanks for the outgoing Committee Members for their contributions in the past year. The motion was seconded by Ir Ken FOK. 5.3 Ir Danny HO proposed a vote of thanks to the Chairman Ir David CHAN for his contributions in the past year. The motion was seconded by Ir Cedric CHAN. 5.4 There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:30pm. 4 Session 2015/2016 Chairmanʼs Report It has indeed been my great honour to be elected as the Chairman of the ( the Division ) for the Session 2015/2016. I would like to report with gratitude the important events and activities of the Division held this Session up to this writing. With the continuous support from more than 2,000 Division members comprising cross-discipline professionals, from public and private sectors, as well Speakers were invited to join the lunch gathering at the 15th Annual as the concerted effort from a team of highly experienced and distinctly capable Committee Members, the Division organized 14 activities including the Annual Seminar, technical meetings, seminars, technical visits and a fellowship gathering. In April and May 2016, we will be organizing a delegation visit and the Annual Dinner for our members over the tenure of this Session. Not only have these useful activities promoted and advanced the level of engineering in building construction, consultancy, research and development, and project management to new heights, but they also served as platforms for different professionals to cross-fertilize their knowledge in building and construction practices, and to strengthen the relationships amongst members and other professional institutions. The success of our Division s activities and events relies upon the enthusiasm and contribution of our Helpers / Volunteers (including student helpers / volunteers from local universities). Our Session 2015/2016 is another successful and promising session. On 10 March 2016, the Division organized the 15th Annual Seminar titled Challenges of Building Development in Metropolis. This remarkable event was successfully held with the participation of over 350 members and guests. Eight distinguished speakers were invited to present and share their knowledge and experience regarding the challenges of development in modern cities and implementation of innovative approaches to building design, construction and management. Group photo of the 15th Annual Seminar We were deeply pleased and honoured to have Ir Eric MA Siu Cheung, Under Secretary for Development, to provide the Keynote Speech; Ir Dr the Honourable LO Wai Kwok, Member of the Legislative Council, and Ir CHAN Chi Chiu, the President of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, to deliver the Opening Address and the Closing Remarks respectively. The 4-day tour was enriched by sightseeing activities at some tourist attractions such as Jiuxiang Scenic Region, Jindian (Golden Temple) Park and Stone Forest (Shilin) etc. in order to allow our members to appreciate how the local culture and history have affected the city development and the construction industry. Winners from six categories will be announced in the QBA2016 Award Presentation Ceremony to be held on 24 June 2016 at JW Marriot Hotel; the Honorary Patron Mr Paul CHAN Mo Po, MH, JP Secretary for Development of the HKSAR Government will be present. 5 We also took the honour to participate in the 40th Anniversary Sports and Family Fun Day held at the Stanley Ho Sports Centre, The University of Hong Kong on 31 January This event was aimed to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the HKIE and to promote the spirit of solidarity among HKIE members, as well as to provide them a networking opportunity in a fun setting. A Flag presentation was charged by the Guest of Honour, Mrs Carrie LAM, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government, to all parties involved. To show full support to the HKIE 40th Anniversary, we formed a team and participated in the Tug of War game. Although we had not won the competition, we had showed our technical skills and enthusiasm throughout the game. Two Best Individual Dissertation Awards will be presented during the Annual Dinner. We are extremely pleased to have Mrs Sara TONG as our guest to present these two Awards to the winners at our Annual Dinner. I am also pleased to inform that the Division s Annual General Meeting and Annual Dinner this year will be held at Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hotel on 5 May We are honoured to have invited Mr Paul CHAN Mo Po, MH, JP Secretary for Development of the HKSAR Government, to be our Guest of Honour for the coming Annual Dinner. In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere gratitude to all members for their unreserved support and active participation in the Division s affairs and activities. I must also extend my deepest appreciation to all our Committee Members, led by Deputy Chairman Ir Danny HO Hoo Yin and our Honorary Secretary Ir Dr Michael YAM Chi Ho, for their dedicated assistance and untiring contribution rendered to the Division in this Session. Documents for establishing Minimum Core Subjects for different disciplines of HKIE had all been endorsed recently. The Building Discipline would submit its Minimum Core Subject details to the Training Committee for agreement soon. In addition, BDAP had negotiated successfully with some Works Departments for inclusion of Building Discipline Member of HKIE as one of the acceptable qualifications eligible for applying the post of Site Agent in some of their major works contracts.
