2 Erie Ave E.9th Eagle Ave Anshe Chesed, - Fairmount Temple Established in 1848 as the Isaellite Anshe Chesed Society of Cleveland. Plat map published by A.H. Mueller 1928 Photo thought to be taken circa 1930 shows the synagogue along with the former Telling Belle- Vernon Dairy plant to the right (west). Photo provided by Dennis Lamount at to Eagle Street Land acquired from James H. Kelly with the assistance of civic leader Leonard Case Sr. Construction completed in 1849 by contractor and former land owner John Wigman. Enlarged in 1860, then sold in 1887 to B nai Jeshurun. Property was sold in 1907 to Henry Spira and Daniel Ulman. Used for several years as a wagon factory and then in the early 1920 s served as a freight terminal by The Northern Ohio Traction Company until Thought to be demolished in 1937 the property joined adjacent parcels as a parking lot until 1988 when the land was acquired from the trusties of Daniel Ulmer by the Gateway Domed Stadium Corporation. Drawing from the Cleveland State University, Michael Schwartz Library to Scovill Ave. Commonly known as The Scovill Ave Temple Land acquired in 1886 from the Kinsman Ave. Church. Designed by Architects Lehman & Schmidt. Sold in 1914 to Jacob Makoff, owner of Coventry theatre, and founder of the Orthodox Heights Jewish Center in Cleveland Heights. The building was converted to a movie theater known as the Main Theater. The property was acquired by the City of Cleveland in January 1961 for the redevelopment of what would become the St. Vincent quadrangle. Dated Euclid Ave. Commonly known as The Euclid Ave Temple Purchased the former estate of Cassie Chadwick in may Designed by Architects Lehman & Schmidt. Dedicated March Education wing extending south was constructed in Sold in 1956 to the current owner, Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Euclid Ave home once belonging to former home of C. Additions include the Library in 1987, and the administrative offices facing Fairmount Blvd in 1998.
