His eldest son William stayed behind in Ireland until William P. Clare Freeman, 29 Oct. 1853, Died on the 4 Sept 1853 in New Orleans, Samuel Daxon, the 4 th son of William Daxon of Kilmorane Cottage, Co. Clare. Clare Freeman, 2 March 1867, Died 23 Jan 1867, Belinda Daxon, wife of William Daxon late of Kilmorane, she was daughter of the late Richard Power of Monroe, Co. Tipperary. Inchiquin Mss. Item The testimony of a Giles Daxon of Stamer Park, aged 77, is given. However the original Bill was filed if 1772, amended in 1792 and again in 1805 and a Bill of Reviver was filed in The big question is, which of these years should one subtract the 77 from to get Giles birth year. There are indications that Giles live until 1831 so 1813 seems to be the logical year to go for. Therefore I am going to take 1736 as Giles birth year. This presumes that his age, given as 77, is actually correct. A birth year of 1736 would make Giles older than his brother Willam. William was born in 1739 so Giles birth year has to be later, say circa 1741.The difference between 1741 and 1813 is 72 years. See how a badly written 72 can appear to be 77. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^
6 6 The following Trees are constructed from the BMD s etc. above. This is detective work and is not based on Birth, Marriage or Death Certificates as they cost a fortune to collect. Richard Daxon who died in 1734 named his lands as Tubbermaly alias Fountain, Drumcarren, Rhine, Erenagh, Drinagh alias Martree and Carhue. All to William. Some lands in Ballyduffbegg to son John. (Why is Kilmorane not mentioned, had he transferred it already to another son?). (Is there a connection between Carhue and Carrowdotia? Carhue and Carrow are pronounced the same. Note: - Shanavoe is also in the neighbourhood of Ennis). Richard Daxon = Alice of Tubbermaly alias Fountain and Kilmorane D William Daxon Son and Heir Richard John Francis Burton Mary Susanna = Robert Cook Richard Henry Cook The fact that Giles was a Wine Merchant in Ennis suggests that Giles had been an apprentice to a Wine merchant from age 14 to 21. This would indicate that Giles was a younger son and that William, who was the next occupier of Fountain House was the heir to his father in 1780 and this was the William who died in Giles must have been his brother s next heir. ============== William Daxon = Fountain B. 7 7 Son and Heir to USA. Based on Richard s Will of 1734 in which he states that his son Francis still had 4 years to go in his apprenticeship, I would say that Francis was 17 years old at the time his father died, so he was born circa Allowing that Francis was the fourth son I would say William, the eldest was born circa Because Kilmorane was part of Richard s Estate which descended to William, I would suggest that Kilmorane descended to William Daxon of Kilmorane as a grandson of Richard, making William of Kilmorane a son of William of Fountain. ================ William Daxon = Kilmorane B M. His son Richard Dickson Daxon seems to have been the Daxon who abandoned Carrowdotia. He died in Altavilla in Altavilla was previously known as Tulloe/Tulla. It was part of the Estate of Sir Francis Barkeley of Askeaton, which he leased to his wife s mother s relation, Simon Purdon. Modern Historians say Tulloe of the Purdons was in Co Clare but they are wrong. (See Orrery Papers).
