3 photo: Michela Sala photo: Michela Sala Claude Bernard University Avenue Tony Garnier Lyon This educational building in Lyon consists of three elements: the foundation, the blocks and the blade of glass The base, in contact with the ground and the flows of the city, emerges as a rock and contains the most dense activities (lobby, cafeteria, amphitheaters) Made of 'pleated' reinforced concrete, this block is pierced at random and opens generously to the garden The programme diversity led to a random openings composition on different fronts The link between the blocks is carried out by horizontal structures, protected by a large blade glass façade located on Avenue Tony Garnier In addition to the functional connections allowed by the blade of glass, it is also an acoustic screen against the noise of traffic, a space for strolling and contemplation of the urban spectacle, but also a institutional façade of the university photo: Michela Sala Project is public! m² Main designer, Bruno Dumetier Philippe Dubois Brunet michela_sala 3

5 photo: Mohsen Ozlati photo: Mohsen Ozlati Genzyme Labs Boulevard Chambaud de la Bruyère Lyon Genzyme is a pioneer in medical biotechnology It has set up its main premises in Lyon, in the Gerland district A production unit, laboratories and offices are brought together behind a double skin that affirms the urban aspect of this project Throughout the project design stage great attention was paid to research and studies into the environmental and health impacts of construction materials Using lifecycle analyses and safety data sheets, we were able to choose healthy materials for people and the environment The carpets, paints and timber used have label certification In the same way, deconstruction and recyclability, cleaning and maintenance were all key criteria in the choices made The thermal strategy is organised around a very efficient casing, consisting of a double glass skin, actively regulating the hygrothermal atmosphere inside the building summer and winter alike An atrium distributes natural light inside the offices photo: Mohsen Ozlati Project is not public! m² Patriarche & Co Genzyme PATRIARCHE-AND-CO 5

6 photo: ptk photo: ptk Le Cube Orange Quai Rambaud Lyon This office building and designer showroom is situated at the old Industrial 'Port Rambaud' harbour, next to the new 'Confluences' development area, not far from the centre of Lyon The strong iconic character is given by the monolithic form and the orange perforated steel plates with different and irregular hole sizes who covers the building The Cube is situated next to the Saone river On the riverside a big hole goes through the building and breaks it's monotony A second cube in green colour and with two holes will be build next to the orange cube in 2013 photo: ptk Project is not public! m² Jakob + MacFarlane Rhône-Saone Developpement / Cardinal -ptk- Top of 'Presqu'île' island between the Rhône and Soane River; next to Perrache Station; not far from the city centre 6
