1 Marshall Ganz Collection Papers, (Predominantly, ) 8 linear feet 8 storage boxes Accession # 1528 DALNET # OCLC# Marshall Ganz was the son of a Bakersfield, California rabbi. He began working with the UFW in 1965 at the age of 22. He was the coordinator for the UFW boycott in Toronto, Ontario from the late 1960s into the early 1970s. He also conducted major organizing efforts for the UFW in California as the director of the UFW Field Office in Calexico, from the mid 1970s until Marshall Ganz was also a member of the National Executive Board for eight years. He resigned from the UFW on June 4, The Marshall Ganz papers contain many of Ganz working notes from his time as an organizer, and from the National Executive Board meetings which he attended. In addition, a significant portion of the files in this collection are those of Jessica Govea, who worked both as an organizer, and directed the UFW boycott operations in Montreal and assisted the boycott in Toronto. She also coordinated the UFW medical programs for a time. She also resigned from the UFW on June 4, Some of her notes are written in Spanish. Important subjects in the collection: Agricultural Labor Relations Cases Boycott in Canada Calexico, California files National Executive Board materials Organizing Non-manuscript material Several photographs were transferred to the Audio Visual Department in the Archives, and a Summary Plan Description (1978) of the Robert F. Kennedy Farm Workers Medical Plan was forwarded to the Archives Library.
