3 TIMELESS DESIGN AWARD HONOREE DAVID LINLEY The Royal Oak Foundation s Board of Directors has selected David Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley of Nymans, to receive the 2014 Timeless Design Award for his extraordinary accomplishments in furniture and decorative arts design over the past three decades as well as his achievements in interior design. The Timeless Design Award recognizes outstanding achievement in British and American design and the stewardship of historic properties. Previous recipients have included the Kravet family, Julian Fellowes, David Hicks, Charlotte Moss, The Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, Lord Rothschild, Bunny Williams, David Mlinaric and Mario Buatta. 4 The son of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon, Linley s creative ability was nurtured by his parents from an early age as they encouraged his passion for craftwork. Linley developed an avid interest in wood-working as a student, which led to his first LINLEY collection, launched in Beautifully made by hand with distinctly British sophistication, charm and inventiveness, Linley pieces demonstrate consummate artistry and craftsmanship and a deep knowledge of and passion for the heritage of art and design, from the Renaissance through neo-classicism and Modernism. In 2006, Lord Linley became Chairman of Christie s UK, where he is responsible for leading the Chairman s office and working with Christie s specialists to develop business and client relationships both in the UK and internationally. 5 HERITAGE AWARD HONOREE INSTITUTE OF CLASSICAL ARCHITECTURE & ART Royal Oak s Board of Directors has selected the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) to receive the 2014 Heritage Award. In honoring the ICAA, Royal Oak recognizes the significant role that the Institute plays in the advancement of the Classical tradition in architecture, urbanism and its allied arts. This aligns it with the mission of the National Trust, Royal Oak s principal partner, which preserves and makes accessible some of the greatest examples of neo-classical architecture and fine and decorative arts. The Institute s commitment to education for both professional and wider audiences and its national reach also correspond to Royal Oak s work in educating American audiences about British art, history and culture. The Heritage Award recognizes individuals or organizations in Britain and the United States that have substantially advanced the understanding and appreciation of our shared cultural heritage. Past recipients include Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, The Garden Conservancy; the Attingham Trust; and Richard Broyd OBE, founder of the Historic House Hotels group.

As an independent not-for-profit organization, the Foundation enables Americans to support the Trust s critical conservation and acquisition priorities as well as educational and scholarship programs in the United States. In the United States, Royal Oak offers a wide range of programs and activities focused on British history, art and architecture, fine & decorative arts, gardens as well as conservation and historic preservation.
