Vera, Assistant City Manager / Service Division DATE: 7/15/2010 RE: Approval of Architectural Firms for General Architectural Services to the City. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission approves the attached Resolution allowing the City Manager to enter into continuing consulting agreements with four (4) architectural firms to perform general architectural services for the City. REASONS: In an effort to streamline the architectural processes for general architectural services within the City and in order to expedite projects requiring architectural services, staff issued Request for Qualifications No for the provision of general architectural services to the City. A total of Twenty Five (25) responses were received in connection to said RFQ. However, after staff s review and evaluation of their qualifications, the following four firms are recommended: 1) Harvard Jolly Architecture; 2) Beiswenger, Hoch and Associates, Inc; 3) Bermello Ajamil & Partners, Inc; and 4) LIVS Associates. As explained above, by entering into continuing consulting agreements with the selected architectural firms, the City will be able to obtain on-call architectural services for various City projects that may arise throughout the year. Nevertheless, it is important to clarify that, prior to the delivery of such services, each firm shall submit work authorizations to the City for any architectural services to be performed. 2 Attachment number 1 Page 1 of 3 RESOLUTION NO A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, SELECTING FOUR (4) ARCHITECTURAL FIRMS TO PERFORM ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR THE CITY, IN RESPONSE TO RFQ NO ; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS/HER DESIGNEE TO ENTER INTO CONTINUING CONSULTANT AGREEMENTS WITH SAID ARCHITECTURAL FIRMS, PROVIDED SAID AGREEMENTS ARE APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGAL SUFFICIENCY BY THE CITY ATTORNEY; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach issued Request for Qualifications No General Architectural Services for the provision of general architectural services to the City; and WHEREAS, the City received twenty-five (25) responses to said RFQ, which have been reviewed by staff; and WHEREAS, staff recommends the following four firms: 1) Harvard Jolly Architecture; 2) Beiswenger, Hoch and Associates, Inc; 3) Bermello Ajamil & Partners, Inc; and 4) LIVS Associates, attached as Exhibit A ; and and WHEREAS, the City desires to use these firms for the provision of architectural services; WHEREAS, the City wishes to enter into continuing consulting agreements with the selected architectural firms for the purpose of providing on-call architectural services for various projects that may arise throughout the year; and WHEREAS, each architectural firm shall submit work authorizations to the City for any architectural services to be performed, prior to the delivery of such services. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Firms Selected. The City Commission hereby selects the architectural firms to provide architectural services for the City, attached as Exhibit A. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City 224

Section 3. Further Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 4. Effective Date.
