Provenance: Transferred by the Dept. of Government and Community Affairs, August 9, Separations: None See Also: Administrative History Mary Margaret Langdon was born in Chicago, IL on June 16, She received her B.A. degree from Mundelein College in 1940 and did M.A. course work at Loyola University. She married the late John F. Langdon, former Vice President for Admissions, in In 1977 she became director of the Community Programs Office at Loyola University Chicago, a position she retained until her retirement in Megs Langdon was instrumental in organizing personal safety programs on the Lakeshore Campus and in charge of the Walk-to-Work Program. She worked on the Loyola Lakefill Project, which was eventually halted by court order in 1991, and active in the Rogers Park and Edgewater communities, which lead to her participation in several committees including the Chicago Crime Commission, St. Joseph Hospital Executive Advisory Committee, Loyola University Women s Board, Chicago Plan Commission, and Rogers Park Community Council. Langdon chaired several committees including the Steering Committee 24 th District Chicago Police Department, Loyola University Urban Concerns Committee, and Mundelein College Development Fund. Her work was recognized by the awards she received throughout her career including the Loyola University Founders Day Civic Award, Mundelein College Silver Jubilee Apostolic Award, 1985 Citizen of the Year (with her husband) from the Rogers Park Community Council, General Assembly Merit Award 1987 from the IL House of Representatives, and an honorary membership from St. Joseph Health Care Foundation.
