5 Optional Tours & Events Premiere Stages Theatre presents Liberty Live: At Liberty Hall By James Christy, Directed by Kel Haney An unlikely pair of American immigrants collide At Liberty Hall follows two high school students who've just moved to New Jersey: Cristian Rosario, a funny but unfocused teenager from Queens, by way of the Dominican Republic; and Alexander Hamilton, 16, the subject of Cristian's 10th grade history project. This time-bending story finds common threads of humor, honor, and awkwardness as told through the experiences of a someday-founding Father and a kid looking for a way out of the projects. A celebration of the 350th Anniversary of New Jersey and the Township of Elizabeth, Liberty Live is a unique partnership with the Liberty Hall Museum that celebrates New Jersey history with professional productions, tours of the Museum, interactive displays, workshops for children and talk-backs with local historians. 7 Directions to Kean University The main campus of Kean University is located at 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ By car: Kean s campus is easily accessible by the Garden State Parkway, NJ Turnpike and Routes 1&9, 22 and 78. From the Garden State Parkway Northbound: Take Garden State Parkway to Exit 140, keep right and follow signs for Route 82 East towards Elizabeth (Morris Avenue East). Stay on Morris Avenue (Route 82 East) and Kean University Campus will be 2 miles down on your right. Southbound: Take Garden State Parkway to Exit 140-A onto Route 22 West. Keep right and follow signs to Elizabeth (Route 82 East). Turn right on Morris Avenue (Route 82 East). 8 Keynote Address Dr. Toby Israel Toby Israel, Ph.D. is a visionary founder of the new field of Design Psychology. Defined as the practice of architecture, planning and interior design in which psychology is the principal design tool, this new discipline continues to gain international attention including in the L.A. Times, Oprah Home, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, the Philadelphia Inquirer, IIDA and on CBS Sunday Morning, NPR s Talk of the Nation and Radio Times (radio interview with Marty Moss-Coane). The Design Psychology visioning sessions and one-to-one interviews/exercises Dr. Israel conducts bring to the fore the vast personal store of experience and emotions that contribute to an individual's choice and design of home and place. Those she has led through her toolbox of exercises include Michael Graves, Andres Duany, Charles Jencks and Jane Pauley. Trained as an Environmental Psychologist, Dr. Israel has over twentyfive years of experience in design, psychology, the arts and education. She has served as an environmental consultant in the USA and UK including as the project manager for the research division of LRK (Looney Ricks Kiss design firm), as the Visual Arts Coordinator for the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and as a professor at the University of Lincoln School of Architecture (UK). Through Toby Israel Consulting, Inc. in Princeton, N.J. she works nationally and internationally with designers and clients and as a world-class speaker spreading the word about Design Psychology. Dr. Israel's international experience and groundbreaking theories about people and place are summarized in her book, Some Place Like Home: Using Design Psychology to Create Ideal Places. (Wiley/Academy, 2003). This extraordinary book includes thought-provoking examples that incorporate the concept of design psychology for residential, institutional and corporate design.
