2 About the Zurich Lecture Series The Zurich Lecture Series in analytical psychology was established in The purpose is to present annually new work by a distinguished scholar who offers innovative contributions to the field of analytical psychology by: bringing analytical psychology into meaningful dialogue with other scientific, artistic, and academic disciplines; showing how analytical psychology can lead to a better understanding of contemporary concerns relating to the environment, politics, and religion; or expanding the concepts of analytical psychology as they are applied clinically or academically. Each year the selected lecturer delivers a series of lectures over a 2-day period in Zurich based on a booklength work. Chiron Publications publishes this work as a new volume in the Zurich Lecture Series, of which Murray Stein and Steven Buser are co-editors. About the 2018 Zurich Lectures Where Soul Meets Matter: Clinical and Social Applications of Jungian Sandplay Therapy In this year s Zürich Lecture Series, Dr. Eva Pattis will describe her extensive pioneering work with adults and children in many different cultures. In particular, she will speak about two distinct forms of sandplay that she has developed over several decades and has used in a wide variety of challenging contexts. One approach focuses on processes of kinesthetic imagination, inviting patients to use only sand and water in their play. The other, Expressive Sandwork (R), is a method developed especially for children in social crisis situations. In both cases, Dr. Pattis will show the psyche s astonishing capacity to regulate itself when free and protected space allows for the creation of expressive images and narratives. In these innovative applications of sandplay, the psyche s self-regulating tendency becomes remarkably visible and tangible. Click here to see a short Interview with Eva Pattis by Murray
