David was the first Alford to appear in Morgan Co. The son of Robert Alford who is supposed to have been born 1760 in England, he was taxed in Morgan Co. before the state of Alabama was created. He was enumerated there in 1830 as Allford.. Also in Morgan Co. in 1830 was Cade (Caid) Alford and his son James who had come from Wake Co., NC. The same three households were in Morgan Co. in 1840, all listed as Allford. In 1840 David and his family are still in Morgan Co. and by then sons John and William had married Mary & Malinda Lamasas respectively and were enumerated separately.
