2 BIOGRAPHY OF MR TIONG KIAN BOON Born and brought up in the old trading city of MaIacca. I received my professional education and training as an Architect in England. Since qualifying as an Architect, I had worked with the government of Malaysia, as a mid-level position in a then fledging home grown Malaysian Multinational Company which now has presence in European and Asia Pacific region. I had spent the last 30 years practising as an architect in the historic city of Melaka pursuing my interest in heritage conservation. I was instrumental in the formation of ICOMOS Malaysia, mobilising grass root support in the pre-formation stage, registration with the National Government and currently serving as the Secretary of the National Committee. I had also served and continue to serve on various government committees relating to conservation management in Malaysia.

5 ELECTION STATEMENT I am honoured by my colleagues and the President of ICOMOS Malaysia for the nomination as a Candidate at this year election to the Advisory Committee. If elected, I will continue to advance the agenda of ICOMOS especially in South East Asia. I had been actively promoting bilateral and multi-lateral partnerships between the National Committees of South-East Asia in the last year. As a member of one of newest National Committees in the ICOMOS family, I hope my election as a member of the National Committee will empower new National Committee s to contribute to the ICOMOS family. I had been active in the ISC Share Built Heritage. I look forward to support from the National Committees of ICOMOS.
