2 The EUROCISS Project (European Cardiovascular Indicators Surveillance Set was set up in 2000 by a partnership of EU countries under the co-ordination of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), Centre of Epidemiology, Surveillance and Health Promotion, Unit of Epidemiology of Cerebro and Cardiovascular Disease, Rome, Italy, as part of the Health Monitoring Programme (HMP) of the European Commission (EC). The project has received financial support from the European Commission, Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General. Neither the European Commission nor any person acting on its behalf is responsible for any use that might be made of the following information. The information contained in this report does not necessarily reflect the opinion or the position of the European Commission. In the year 2004 the Project was re-funded and more European countries were involved. The Project actually involves 18 European countries and the European Heart Network 2
