1 Medina County Fair Association Promoting Pride in Medina County 2018 Medina County Fair Scholarship Deadline for 2018 applications is Friday, September 28 Applicants must meet the following requirements: 1. Applicant must be a resident of Medina County or attend school in Medina County. 2. Applicant and/or family must be a member of the Medina County Fair Association. Applications of those who are not verified as Medina County Fair Association members as of September 14, 2018 will be disqualified. 3. Applicant must have competed in at least one of the following events at any of the previous Medina County Fairs: Medina County Fair Prospect Shows steers, heifers, goat or lamb The Medina County Junior Livestock Show in January is not a Medina County Fair event and does not qualify for this scholarship. Medina County Fair Home Arts Show baked foods, photography, crafts, etc. Medina County Fair Queen s Contest Participation will be verified and applications of anyone who has not competed in any of the listed events will be disqualified. 4. Applicant must be a candidate for graduation in the spring of 2019 and begin vocational, trade school, college or university the following fall 2019 semester. Should the scholarship winner fail to enroll in post-secondary education in the fall semester following graduation in May or June 2019, the scholarship will be forfeited. Medina County Fair scholarships are funded 100% by the net proceeds of the prize-winning Baked Foods Auction at the Medina County Fair. Scholarship amounts are based on the net proceeds and number of applicants. Businesses and individuals are welcomed to support the Medina County Fair Association Scholarships through their participation and support of the Baked Foods Auction.

2 Medina County Fair Association Promoting Pride in Medina County 2018 Medina County Fair Scholarship Scholarship Application Requirements: 1. Complete Medina County Fair scholarship application. Application can be completed on the form provided. Additional pages can be added if needed. 2. Submit official high school transcript. 3. Submit 3 letters of recommendation. Recommendations may be obtained from teachers, school administrators, employers, clergy members or any non-family member. 4. Complete a 2 to 3 page, double-spaced, typed essay addressing What is the biggest challenge facing the Millennial generation and how does this challenge affect you? 5. Packet including application, transcript, 3 letters of recommendation and essay should be mailed to the Medina County Fair Association, P.O. Box 4, Hondo, Texas 78861, by Friday, September 28, Please do not drop off your application with any Fair member or at a business location. Only mailed applications will be accepted. 6. Applicant will receive a confirmation noting receipt of the application packet within 3 business days of receipt. 7. Applications received after the September 28 deadline will be disqualified. 8. Applications not meeting all the requirements listed above will be disqualified. 9. Applications will be judged by a committee composed of Medina County Fair directors. 10. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, November7, 2018 at the Medina County Fair Association annual meeting and appreciation dinner. All applicants are requested to be present and will be recognized.
