2 Comprehensive Housing Master Plan In 2001, the Department of Residential Life commissioned the development of a comprehensive housing master plan. The architectural planning firm of Hanbury Evans Wright & Vlattas (HEWV) was selected to develop the plan. In developing a master plan, the Department of Residential Life sought to both enhance the quality of life for students living on campus and renovate space to support growing academic programs such as the residential colleges. Adopted by LSU in 2002, the evolution of the housing master plan continues to change housing at LSU in exciting ways. The original plan was set up over 15 years and was broken into three 5-year cycles of activity. This allowed for the periodic reviews of the current conditions and re-evaluation of needs during the life of the plan. In 2006, a review of the plan was completed as the first of the 5-year cycle was nearing its end. Due to the catastrophic weather events of the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons, a significant growth in construction costs required an extension of the original plan and reevaluation of the business plan supporting the housing system. Again in 2008, an additional review was conducted in light of the stated desire for growth in total enrollment to 32,000, increased demand for on campus housing, the need to provide for family housing, and a review of small capital project investment in various buildings. The result was the development of four cycles of activity in support of a 30-year housing system plan and associated financial plan. The following pages review the master plan s accomplishments thus far and preview projects under construction and ahead in the future. This is a living documents with periodic reviews.

7 Broussard Hall I.T. Residential College Opened 2004 A former residence hall for student athletes, Broussard Hall became the Information Technology Residential College in Newly renovated, the building offers students carpeted rooms, and moveable furniture. Two state of the art multimedia classrooms, faculty offices, and computer lab support the activities of this residential college. Students enjoy studying in the newly landscaped courtyard or hanging out in the community space students call The Aquarium.
