Most of the town was built at the time that the Cockermouth / Keswick / Penrith Railway was built but Keswick has a fascinating history from the prehistoric stone circle at Castlerigg, the founding of St. Kentigerns Church to the 13th Century Market Charter. More recently, the new worldrenowned ''Theatre by The Lake'' has complimented the galleries and attractions to make Keswick the activity capital of the Lake District but for many, the weekend is too short a period to enjoy this wonderful area, where its many lovely guest houses enjoy an ever widening tourist season. Acquired by the current owners in 2006.The Winchester trades for 8 months only and purposefully below the VAT threshold - the business produces substantial profits, does not use agency bookings and has the benefit of many returning guests.
