3 UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS The University of Leeds is now ranked 10th in the Times Good University Guide 2019, an increase of three places from the previous year, this is the first time the University has made it into the top ten. Leeds was in the top four for applications in 2016 and has maintained strong demand since coming 5th this year with around 250,000 applications, that s 7.9 applications per place available. The University of Leeds is also one of the top five universities targeted by leading employers, according to the 2017 High Fliers graduate market survey. Leeds is second only to York in the Russell Group for student satisfaction. Leeds is in the middle of a five-year 520m programme of campus developments to ensure it maintains the progress of recent years. The university occupies a 98 acre site within walking distance of the subject. LEEDS BECKETT UNIVERSITY Leeds Beckett has switched from running four faculties to 13 academic schools and is investing 200m over the next seven years to create for each of them an academic home to reinforce a sense of community. The City Campus has already had a 100m transformation, centred on the futuristic Rose Bowl lecture theatre complex, and is located 0.3 km (0.2 miles) from 18 Queens Square, which houses the business school. There is also a Headingley campus, three miles from the City Campus, which sits in 100 acres of park and woodland. The University changed its name in 2014 from Leeds Metropolitan University to Leeds Beckett University. The University has one of the highest amounts of full-time students at 18,500 and there are almost 26,000 students enrolled on courses.
