10 What does the conduct process look like for students who violate the tobacco-free policy? Faculty/Staff that document students violating the policy should be referred to the Office of University Community Standards (UCS). First offense: The student will be entered into our conduct database and an educational letter will be sent out via acknowledging the violation and sharing smoking cessation resources. Further offenses: The student will be entered into our conduct database and will be called in for a conduct hearing to discuss the continued violation. If found responsible for the policy violation, a letter of warning will be issued and may include other possible educational sanctions. Professional staff in the residence halls and apartments will continue to educate the residential community about the tobacco-free policy through s, postings and educational cards. If a violation is documented in or around the residential footprint, it will be handled by Residential Community Standards(RCS), Residence Hall Director (RHD) or Apartment Living Coordinator (ALC). 10
