2 P a g e 2 NEWS AND INFORMATION Snow Rodeo On October 6 th various members of the development department participated and served as judges for the service department s annual snow rodeo. The snow rodeo is a fun and friendly competition where service department crew members test their skills driving snow plows through an obstacle course designed to help them practice plowing snow. The event provided an opportunity to network and build relationships with people from various departments. Heit Center Parking The development services manager met with representatives from Nationwide Children s Hospital and the OSU Medical Center at the Heit Center to discuss parking. The representatives shared concerns about the number of parking spaces available, students parking in the lot and a desire to designate parking spaces for clients. Village Center Workshop On October 25 th the city manager, administrative services director, and members of the department along with representatives from the New Albany Company attended a Village Center workshop facilitated by MKSK. MKSK provided an overview of all previous planning efforts in the Village Center and identified key development opportunities that have occurred to date. MKSK led an interactive working meeting to discuss design and development ideas. A follow up meeting has been scheduled for the end of November.

3 P a g e 3 BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS Architectural Review Board The Architectural Review Board met on October 9th and heard four items. The board approved with conditions a certificate of appropriateness to allow a new sign for Truluck Boutique located at 16 W. Main Street. The board approved with conditions a certificate of appropriateness to allow a new sign for PetPeople located at 16 W. Main Street. The board approved with conditions a certificate of appropriateness for 14 duplex units and design of a public pedestrian corridor for the Granger Senior Living Facility located at 227 E. Main Street. The board tabled a certificate of appropriateness for an addition to the existing structure at the New Albany Methodist Church located at 2 3rd Street. Planning Commission The Planning Commission met on October 16th and heard six items. The board approved with conditions a variance to allow a residential home to encroach the building setback located at 714 Hanby s Loop. The board approved with conditions the preliminary and final development plan for the AEP Transmission Building 2 generally located north of Smith s Mill Road and west of Beech Road. The board approved with conditions a variance to allow a proposed road to be a private street located northeast of the Granger First & Main site. The board approved the preliminary plat for a new public street generally located east of Beech Road and south of Worthington Road. The board approved the final plat for a new public street generally located east of Beech Road and south of Worthington Road. The board heard a presentation for the Western Licking County Accord.

6 P a g e 6 Innovate New Albany PROJECT UPDATES CONTINUED TIGER Events TIGER Events are weekly educational events in the form of TIGER Talks, TIGER Workshops, TIGER Book Clubs and TIGER Tales. Volunteers share their experiences and expertise with the audience over lunch on Wednesdays and Fridays. Speakers typically blog after a session and post to the Innovate website. TIGER Talk: Augmented Reality as a Competitive Advantage, by Mark Armbrust and Krishna Bobba, Holopundits. Included a hands-on demo of Microsoft augmented reality glasses (3 attendees) TIGER Talk: Supporting Your Startup: Cbus Resources, Mike McCann, VP Programs & Partner Engagement, & Andrea Ewing, Entrepreneur Engagement Advisor, Rev1 Ventures (3 attendees) Expert Office Hours Series This program provides entrepreneurs and small business owners with easy access to advice from expert service providers with skills and knowledge valuable for launching startups & growing early stage companies. October s experts were: Brian Dengler, Susan Fortner, Emily Journey, Kevin Hammond and Roberta Winch (total of 6 appointments) Other Events New Albany Networking Group Group of small business professionals that meet weekly over breakfast, Tuesdays at 7:3 am. Initiated by Susan Fortner, CEO of Bowers PR and currently being co-led by Susan & Brian Wade of Universal Pay. Both companies are residents at Innovate New Albany. (12-2 attendees per week) Columbus Executive Forum Monthly meeting of group designed to help meet the networking goals of senior leaders who are in job transition. Group has existed for several years. It has been meeting at Innovate New Albany since January 217. (9 attendees) Meetings and Events Neil Collins provides interested individuals the opportunity to meet and hear about Innovate s goals and missions, TIGER Events, and other onsite programming. Neil also gives tours of the Innovate facility. During October he met with the following: Dr. Raj Pannu, central Ohio medical doctor, inventor, and entrepreneur Doug Bierl, local consultant and business coach Thomas MacKenzie, local financial executive Brian Zuercher, local entrepreneur Michael Wiseman, local consultant Gary Cao, resident and employee of Express Velvette Delaney, entrepreneur Neil represented Innovate at the following October 217 events: 217 Ohio Collegiate Venture Showcase NonProfit Sustainability Showcase 217 October Bunker Brews Fintech 71 Startup Pitch & Happy Hour

10 P a g e 1 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT UPDATES Name of Project: US 62/Greensward Road Roundabout Start Date: June 217 Estimated Completion: December 217 Project description: Construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of US 62 and Greensward Road and Lambton Park Road. Status: The roadway improvements for this project are largely complete. Street trees and final roadway signage are scheduled to be in place by mid-november. Name of Project: Innovation Campus Way east of Harrison Road Start Date: February 1, 217 Estimated Completion: December 217 Project description: Construction of approximately 5, of roadway, waterline and sanitary sewer that will connect Innovation Campus Way to Mink Street and the new Mink Road interchange. Status: Roadway construction is now complete and open to traffic. The contractor will be completing the street lights, leisure trail and final signage during the month of November. Name of Project: Traffic signals at North Harlem and Dublin Granville and Fodor Roads at the high school parking lot Start Date: Pending project award Estimated Completion: First quarter 218 Project description: This project adds traffic signals and pedestrian crossings to the intersection of North Harlem Road and Dublin Granville Road as well as the intersection of Fodor Road at the high school parking lot. Status: The order for the traffic signal equipment has been placed and the contractor is awaiting material delivery. On-site construction activity is expected to begin January 218. US 62/Greensward Road Roundabout Innovation Campus Way East of Harrison Rd. Traffic Signal at Fodor Road

11 P a g e 1 1 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT UPDATES CONTINUED Name of Project: Beech Road South Pubic Infrastructure Start Date: November 217 Estimated Completion: March 218 Project description: The waterline, sanitary sewer and roadway improvements along the Beech Road corridor primarily south of SR161 were on bid in October. The city received eight bids with Nickolas Savko & Sons as the low bidder. The city will issue the notice to proceed in November.

The updated letters will include all legal requirements while also providing a higher level of clarity. The user needs to repair the lower edge stucco per the ARB condition. 81 Walton Parkway On October 11th the city planner and zoning officer inspected the Walton Offices site. Temporary occupancy was approved pending building and engineering approval. The user needs to complete items such as establishing grass, landscaping, north canopy and stone coping Smith s Mill Road On October 13th the zoning officer inspected the Lbrands guardhouse/parking lot expansion site. Temporary occupancy was approved pending building and engineering approval. The user needs to complete establishing grass, landscaping, ballards and submit revised parking lot layout. On October 2th the zoning officer re-inspected the Lbrands guardhouse/parking lot expansion site. All items were completed and the inspection passed. 988 Johnstown Road On October 25th the zoning officer inspected the Turkey Hill site. The inspection failed. The user needs to complete the bike racks, lighting and downspouts. 16 W. Main St. City staff conducted a zoning inspection of the Market & Main II exterior shell on October 5th and 3th. Approval or conditional approval is required prior to tenants occupying the space. The majority of the building has been finished but several items such as missing shutters, landscaping, and correcting exposed foundations need to be corrected. The building was issued a conditional approval for occupancy.
