2 Rules and Regulatins fr Use f HARI Facilities Terminlgies used in this dcument are defined belw: TERM DEFINITION HARI r HARI Temple Hindu American Religius Institute (HARI), lcated at 301 Steigerwalt Hllw Rad, New Cumberland, Pa HARI Member Nn-Paid Member A devtee wh has paid yearly membership dues r is a life member f HARI Persn wh des nt qualify as the current member f HARI Nn-prfit Organizatins Organizatins that are perating as nn-prfit rganizatins in the Greater Harrisburg area and are cmprise mstly f HARI devtees. Examples f such rganizatins are: AIACPA, Gujrati Samaj, Harrisburg Area Tamil Sangham (HATS), Jain Center f Suth Central PA, etc. Other rganizatins Rent Rental Renting Party Security Depsit All ther rganizatins that are nt cvered under the abve classificatin f nn-prfit rganizatin Charges fr such use, currently $ per day Use f Temple s lwer level hall fr private event Persn(s) r rganizatin(s) renting the temple hall Refundable depsit, currently $ per day HARI Temple s lwer level hall is available fr private use fr a fixed duratin, amunt and subject t the terms and cnditins that are described in this dcument. Unless nted, all rentals are frm 8:00am t 10:00pm. Express permissin fr extended-hurs usage must be btained frm the President f the Executive Cmmittee. Temple hall will nt be rented during HARI spnsred events and HARI Schl days. HARI Schl activities may be pstpned at the discretin f HARI Schl Cmmittee fr special events like weddings and sacred ccasins. Temple shall be rented strictly n the first cme first served basis. The rental can be bked ver the phne but is cnsidered cnfirmed nly after HARI Treasurer receives apprpriate rent, rental agreement frm and depsit mney as described in Sectin E belw. 1

3 Rental Charge, Security Depsit and Duratin: HARI Members: The rental charges and security depsit fr paid HARI members is $250 n each day. The rent plus the depsit mney must be paid in advance withut exceptin. RENT DAYS RENT DEPOSIT TOTAL 1 $ $ $ $ $ $ Each additinal day, add $250 fr rent and $150 fr depsit fr each day. Nn-paid members: Nn-paid members residing in the Greater Harrisburg area may qualify fr rentals at the fllwing rate. Nn-prfit rganizatins: Nn-prfit rganizatins may rent the facility by paying 50% f charges as described abve. The renting party still needs t pay apprpriate security depsit as described in this dcument. If such rental request exceeds ver five days per calendar year, the President f the Executive Cmmittee must btain an express apprval frm the Bard f Trustees. The Bard may decline such renting requests in favr f HARI s financial interest. Such rentals are subject t all ther prevailing rental plicies. Preparing fr Cultural Events: Devtees and/r their children preparing fr presentatin at private events r at events spnsred by nn-prfit rganizatins may rent the lwer level hall at $25.00 per day r fr a flat $ per event. Such rentals are subject t the use f the lwer level hall nly. Temple s upper level hall shuld never be used fr practicing film sngs and dances. Such rentals d nt include use f the kitchen area and audi-systems. The lwerlevel audi-system can be rented fr additinal $25.00 per day. It is the respnsibility f the event rganizer t ensure that participating artists f their prgrams are nt vilating this plicy. Rent-Free Reservatins: Paid HARI members and nn-prfit rganizatins reserving HARI facility fr religius activities withut serving fd shall nt be charged any rental fees. Such rent-free reservatin des nt include usage f the kitchen and lwer level dining hall areas. The renting party still needs t pay apprpriate security depsit as described in this dcument. It is imperative that such requests be submitted t the President f the Executive Cmmittee at least ne mnth in advance. The Executive Cmmittee, in cnsultatin with Temple Priest, may decline if such rent-free request fails t merit as a religius activity. The Executive Cmmittee may nt apprve rent-free requests fr nn-paid HARI members and ther rganizatins unless the President f the Executive Cmmittee btains expressed 2

4 apprval frm the Bard f Trustees in advance. Similar apprval must als be btained frm the Bard f Trustees if the rent-free usage described abve exceeds ver three days per calendar year fr the same renting party. The Bard may decline such rent-free requests in favr f HARI s interest. Decratins: Paid HARI members and nn-prfit rganizatins may decrate temple s lwerlevel hall fr their functins n the previus night withut additinal charges prvided the temple is nt in use n that night. Nn-paid members and ther rganizatin must pay additinal rent fr similar usages. The renting party may set up stage area and clean the facility but is requested nt t engage in decratins that damage walls and/r wall paint. The renting party is respnsible t remve all decratins immediately upn the cnclusin f the functin. Alchlic beverages, nn-vegetarian fd and smking are strictly prhibited within HARI premises at any time. Rent des nt include such supplies as paper plates, paper cups, ther paper prducts, etc. This rental agreement des nt include Priest services. Priest services may be reserved separately with the Executive Cmmittee. Unless the Priest services are bked, the Priest may nt be available and/r present n the rental day at the temple. The renting party may use ther HARI wned equipments such as chairs, tables, kitchen supplies, bathrm supplies, trash bags, etc. while using the Temple facility. These items may nt be taken ut f HARI premises at any time. Please d nt call Executive Cmmittee members and/r the members f the Bard f Trustees with yur request as n ne is authrized t apprve such request. The renting party may use the audi system prvided such use was requested at the time f rental. The Executive Cmmittee members authrizing the rental requests are respnsible fr arranging fr a member f the Audi/Visual Cmmittee fr the assistance n the day f the rental. If the renting party fund using the audi system withut the aid f authrized Audi/Visual Cmmittee member, the renting party will be respnsible fr all damages that are fund after such usage. Aarti dnatins cllected, including special Aarti that are bserved at religius and ther sacred ccasins, need t be depsited int the dnatin bx lcated by the main alter. Nn-prfit rganizatins renting the temple facility may accept dnatins frm its members t cver the cst f the religius r nn-religius prgram. Hwever, temple s main entrance and ther entrances/exists may nt be blcked t facilitate their cllectins. The main entrance must be kept pen during nrmal business hurs as described in Sectin C abve. Similarly, fr access during emergencies and t meet the requirement f building fire-cde, all exists must be kept blckage-free. Temple s upper level prayer hall is never rented and is always pen t devtees fr prayer during nrmal business hurs as described in Sectin C abve. Devtees wishing t enter the prayer hall slely fr prayer purpses shall be allwed t enter the hall free f charges, even if the facility is rented fr private religius r nn-religius prgram. Cancellatin Charges: The renting party must give tw weeks cancellatin ntice befre ccupancy. Any ntice less than tw weeks will result in frfeit f the security depsit. 3

5 It is the respnsibility f the renting party t return the facility clean. This includes cleaning f the upper level (if used), lwer level (if used), kitchen area (if used) and restrms. The renting party must als pick up any trash and/r debris frm utside f the building area littered by the invited guests. The security depsit will be refunded prvided the devtee renting the facility cleans the facility prperly after use and meets ther requirements as ntified by the Executive Cmmittee at the time f renting the facility. HARI reserves the right t cancel any prir bked rentals with at least tw weeks ntice t the renting party. Apprpriate cause must be given, in writing, t the renting party with 100% f the rental charges and depsit refunded. HARI will nt be held liable fr persnal injuries and damages incurred t individuals and/r grup f individuals during such rentals. The renting party will be held liable fr such injuries and damages under this agreement. The renting party will als be respnsible fr damages incurred t the building, HARI prperty, and/r HARI wned equipments. Vilatrs f any f the plicy described herein will lse future renting privileges after the Bard f Trustees declares the defaulting party as a vilatr f the renting agreement. After a 60 day shw-cause ntice given t the defaulting party, their name and address f the defaulting party will be published in the HARI Times. The security depsit is will be refunded if the facilities are prperly cleaned. It is respnsibility f renter t insure that the facilities are prperly cleaned t avid frfeiting depsit. Rules t be bserved: 1. Temple facilities t be left in a neat, clean and rderly fashin. 2. Remve all the garbage and clean flr, bathrms, kitchen and ther area used. Carpeted area shuld be vacuumed. Take all garbage t the dumpster. The dumpster is lcated near the main temple gate entrance. 3. All chairs, tables and ther thing used shuld place back and tables shuld be wiped clean. 4. Befre leaving the temple facilities lights shuld be turned ff, windws shuld be secured, and drs shuld be clsed. Als remve any decratin. 5. Kitchen shuld be cleaned; all utensils shuld be cleaned and placed back prperly. 6. Use the temple facility safely and take care like yur hme. 7. N adhesive tape n the carpet r walls.
