1 The following is a list of New Hanover County and a description of each buffer zone concerning Election Day electioneering. Buffer zones as designated by G.S (a), county board of elections, shall where practical, set the limit at 50 feet from the door of entrance to the voting place, measured when that door is closed, but in no event shall it set the limit at more than 50 feet or at less than 25 feet. The Poll workers will mark buffer zones on Election Day with signs, chalk, rope, tape, or other materials supplied by the New Hanover County Board of Elections. Precinct H09 has been split into precincts H12 and H13. City of Wilmington The City of Wilmington has two important excerpts from their City Ordinance of which they want you to be aware. As it relates to the restrictions as to how political signs may be displayed, Section (d), basically states the sign should be no more than 12 square feet, the signs must be removed within 30 days following the election, and signs may only be placed on private property. Section (o), authorizes the removal of any signs in the public right of way without warning. Town of Carolina Beach The Town of Carolina Beach would like for you to be aware of the following regarding political candidacy signs: 1. Only one sign shall be allowed per lot. 2. Signs shall be located on private property with permission from the property owner. 3. Signs shall be no greater than 6 square feet in size and 5 feet in height. 4. All signs shall be removed within 10 days following the election. Town of Wrightsville Beach The Town of Wrightsville Beach would like you to be aware of their political sign regulations. Compliant political signs are permitted during the period beginning on the 30th day before the beginning date of one-stop early voting under NCGS and ending on the 10th day after the primary or election day, persons may place political signs in the right-of-way of the state highway system as provided in this section. The permittee must obtain the permission of any property owner of a residence, business, or religious institution fronting the right-of-way where a sign would be erected. Signs must be placed in accordance with the following and must be removed by the end of the period prescribed above ((Article (G)). See statute (d) above for more details.
