Our homestays are all very carefully selected and regularly inspected by our experienced Accommodation Officers. Homestay housess are not usually situated within w walking distance of the school. Therefore, students applyingg for homestay accommodation shouldd be prepared to travel by public transport. The travel time can vary between 10 and 400 minutes. The advantage of this however is that the family s houses are usually located inn peaceful and green suburbs with nice views and gardens. Regular quality checks are conducted by our NZLC Accommodation Department. It is i very important for us and the host family to know if you have any special requests. You can choose between half board and full board. Summer Stays Each year between November and February, most university student halls offer short term stays for non university students and tourists over the summer. Whether you re arriving early, leaving late or would just like to stay in Wellington over the summer, this could be the ideal option for you. 8 Flatting You can share rental accommodation with other students. This is called 'flatting' and suits some people very well. Living together with people from other countries will also improve your English while gaining more autonomy. The cost of this sort of accommodation will vary along with the quality. This option usually suits students who have been in Neww Zealand for some time and are planning to stay in Wellington for a longer period (longer than 5 months). You can expect to pay anywhere from $120 too $250 rent per week for a room in a flat (house) and on top of that, pay a sharee of the other costs such as power and food. One house may have between 3 and 5 occupants or flatmates. Most flatss are unfurnished. Also be prepared p to stay in temporary accommodation (such as backpacker hostels or a motel) when you first arrive in Wellington for at least two weeks so youu have time to find suitable accommodation.
