Since moving in, we built a new conservatory and terrace to make the most of the views across the river and we also constructed a three car garage unit with annexe in order to accommodate any overspill of friends and family. I m not a keen gardener, she admits, so I have someone to help keep the lawns in order, but the grounds are by no means high maintenance. With the river fringed by willows and open countryside beyond, Curtesy Is both private and peaceful. And the location of the house is perfect. The house stands on a quiet no-through road on the edge of the village, yet has the railway station just a short stroll away, making it possible to be in the centre of Oxford in ten minutes and at Marylebone Station London in less than an hour. What will I miss? Well I can honestly say everything, says the owner. On warm summer evenings my husband loved catching pike on the river, and the grandchildren still have hours of fun in the garden, launching our small boat from the jetty. It s always been a great fun family home, with lots of village activities to dip into. Islip has its own railway station (Oxford 8 minutes). Chiltern railways operate two trains an hour from Oxford, many stopping at Islip and Bicester then direct to London Marylebone. There is also a bus service to Oxford. Islip has an excellent village shop manned by village volunteers, open six days a week. There is a village pub, primary school and doctors surgery.
