4 4 LOCATION Sennen Cove is the furthest westerly village on the mainland of the United Kingdom and overlooks the 1½ mile wide Whitesand Bay, which is backed by sand dunes, cliffs and heath land. The beach is home to surfers, kite surfers and wind surfers and fishing boats, along with small sailing boats launch from behind the protected harbour wall. The village is one of Cornwall s most beautiful and has various local shops, galleries, grocery stores, a post office, a pub and restaurants. At the top of the hill, at Sennen village, is a primary school and there is also secondary education at nearby St Just and private educational facilities in Penzance. Between St Just and Penzance there is a full range of facilities, shops and professional services, with Penzance having a hospital and also the rail terminus for the Penzance to Paddington main line. The area surrounding Sennen Cove is some of Cornwall s most rugged and beautiful with fantastic walks along the South West Coast Path over National Trust owned headlands. About a mile away is Land s End and there are many smaller coves and beaches to explore nearby.
