The chateau sits in 5 acres of private parkland on the outskirts of Marthon. It has a small restaurant, bakery, butcher and pharmacy. Further afield, there are many small restaurants to choose from in the unspoilt villages of the region. Angouleme is less than 30 minutes away with a busy social calendar of events throughout the year. Dating from the 10th century and built dramatically on a hillside, Angouleme' s old town has cobbled streets packed with buzzing and friendly restaurants and cafes. The large and culturally diverse city of Bordeaux is less than 90 minutes away. No holiday is complete without a trip to Cognac and a guided tour around the Hennessy houses, famous for the spirit - Cognac.
