1 Waldorf St Martins Apartment Hotel Accessibility Report - 8/6/18 Waldorf St Martins offers 4 x One Bedroom Accessible Apartments for short term accommodation, in Auckland CBD, close to all central attractions and Auckland Hospital. Our friendly team are always welcome to assist any requirements our guests may have. Please read through the following document to see if our accommodation is suitable for your needs. Arriving and Getting In Bus Stops: There are a large number of bus stops on Symonds St. These are both opposite the entrance to St Martins and on the same side of the road. St Martins Lane has a steep incline down and a narrow footpath with the lane folding around right at the entrance to St Martins. If guests carry on down the lane further there is a loading bay which is Wheelchair accessible. There are a number of bus stop numbers The bus routes are from airport, Mt Eden, Botany, St Lukes, Epsom amongst others and return. There is no shelter or seating at the closest stops to St Martins. Car parking: On arrival, there is a loading zone directly by the entrance of St Martins There are 2 accessible car parks. Accessible car parks are on Level 1 of the car parking area and is under cover and by the lifts. Drop off/pick up zone: There is a loading zone directly by the entrance with a flat walk into the building which is under cover. The identified accessible route to the site: The accessible route to the site has a minimum width of 1200mm. There are no tactile indicators installed to help navigate to the main entrance.

2 The main entrance into the site: The main entrance has a flat area from the loading bay otherwise there are two sets of stairs. One of 6 steps and the other of 21 steps. Main entrance signage: The large red Waldorf sign on the side of the building can be seen from the top of St Martins Lane. There is also a large Waldorf sign down the side of the building that can be seen from the motorway coming from the South and from the top of Symonds St. Main entrance doorways (this includes gates and turnstiles) The main entrance on St Martins Lane is illuminated and contrasting within the surroundings. The glass automated doors reflect the light and surroundings and can be hard to see, however they activate from a shallow approach so there is no danger of guests walking into the door. Single swing doors have a minimum width of 760mm. The entrance door swing allows for a 1200mm minimum clear space.

3 Getting around within the site Customer Service: There are staff available to help with any access enquiries. All support animals are welcomed on premises (e.g. guide, hearing or mobility dogs etc). Communicating Accessibly: There is large print information available. Information can be sent out via . The Paua Room on Level B1 is a self-service continental breakfast room with chairs and tables like a cafe. This can be accessed by the lifts. There are no menu's. The identified accessible route within the site: The customers can access the rubbish disposal area either front the outside entrance via a flat level ground or from inside via a ramp.. The width of the accessible route within the site is less than 1200mm. Lighting levels of this accessible route impact on visibility and viewing quality. There are steps along the accessible route within the site. The layout suggests a welcoming physical environment (e.g. mobile floor stands provide unimpeded travel, or outdoor environment surfaces are well maintained). Signage within the site: The current signage has silvery/grey text on a charcoal or silver on a red background (room numbers, gym signage, breakfast room and pool signage) which can be difficult to read, particularly from a distance and in the shadows. The main facilities like the gym and rubbish room are accessed on the ground floor past reception with the breakfast room being located on level B1 which is accessed by the lift. If assistance is required to find these areas, ask at reception. Sensory options: Reflective and polished surfaces are minimised. The lighting design throughout the corridors casts large shadows which may disorientate guests with vision impairments. Surfaces: The floor covering is free of loose mats or rugs and there is a large slip-resistant mat at the main entrance.

4 Easy movement around the site due to short cut carpet pile. The floor surface covering is plain and clear. Tactile indicators are not installed on the accessible route Lifts: The controls are mounted at 1000mm above the floor and include braille on the buttons. All controls (i.e. landing controls, alarm and emergency telephone) are located within a reachable range. Stairs or Steps: There are stairs in the emergency stairwell which has concrete walls but no handrails. Accessible Reception Counter The reception counter is 1250mm high, however the Eftpos machine can reach low for wheelchair users. There is also an accessible counter. The information signs on the reception counter are easy to read with strong colour contrast and large font. There is a counter located on the accessible route. The counter is accessible and has a clear space of 1200mm x 1200mm in front. There is access space at the service or reception counter. EFTPOS terminals are reachable and usable. There is a telephone available for the access customer to use.

5 About our One Bedroom Accessible Apartments The accessible rooms are one bedroom units, and the bedrooms can be closed off from the kitchen/dining/lounge area. The accessible bathrooms are spacious, with slip-resistant tiles and a wall-mounted shower seat. There is a 1500mm diameter turning circle in the kitchen/dining and lounge area and the bedroom area. The accessible units have the same design layout. The accessible units are located on the accessible route. Gym facilities are available to use. This accommodation facility has a swimming pool which is open in the summer months. The television has a portable remote. There is internet access within the unit. The room is accessed with a swipe card. The room has combined bedroom/lounge/kitchen facilities. The room has a balcony. The room has a view. Each accessible room has a super king bed, which is 550mm high and can't be raised or lowered. There is limited space between the bed and other furniture, but furniture can be rearranged if required. The height of the bed is fixed and can't be raised or lowered. 550mm Apartment Kitchen Facilities: The cooking facilities are reachable from a wheelchair or scooter, however the top cupboards which contain the crockery are not. Guests can liaise with staff to rearrange the kitchen utensils. There is a dishwasher, fridge, microwave, oven, stove, kettle and toaster available. The microwave is not within a reachable range but staff remove move this to a lower level if required. The jug is within a reachable range. Kitchen power sockets are within a reachable range.

6 Apartment Bathroom The bathroom facilities are a combined toilet, shower and wash basin space. The bathroom is spacious and allows a 1500mm turning circle. The toilet and shower both have 90 degree hand rails to assist guests. There are no lips within the shower area. There is a solid, secure bath seat attached to the wall. There is a hand held shower mixer. The bathroom tiles are slip resistant. The combined toilet and shower area is approximately 1900 x 2100mm in size. There is a fold up shower seat. There is a hand-held shower head. There is a lever operated mixer. The hairdryer is within a reachable range.

7 About our Facilities Designated Accessible Areas: The designated smoking area at the main entrance is accessible and there is no seating available. None of the seating has backrests or arm rests. The designated smoking area is accessible. There is no grassed area for support animals (e.g. guide, hearing or mobility dogs). Swimming Pools & Spas: The swimming pool for guests is in the Waldorf St Martins building. The swimming pool is via a route that may require assistance. There are handrails provided to support entry into the swimming pool. The swimming pool is heated. There are accessible changing facilities available within the swimming pool area. There are accessible toilet facilities available within the swimming pool area. Getting out safely There are visual and audible fire alerting devices in each accessible room and evacuation assembly areas are on the accessible route. The emergency exits are accessible and hazard free. All fire/smoke doors can stay open automatically during an emergency. There are audible fire alerting devices. Assembly areas (e.g. evacuation point) are on the accessible route.
